Apexi Timer / Wideband

Hey Guys,
Just seeing if this is possible.

I have an Apexi Auto Timer which reads A/F via the stock o2 sensor; It reads from 10.0 - 20.0 A/F.

Would it be possible to purchase a replacement wideband sensor and connect the wires to my Apexi unit? I would remove the A/F wire from the stock o2 and attach it to the replacement wideband sensor? I hope this is not too confusing.

I have an Apexi Auto Timer which reads A/F via the stock o2 sensor; It reads from 10.0 - 20.0 A/F.

Stock o2 sensor on our car (assuming you have a S-chassis car) is narrow band, which means the sensor cannot read the actual A/F value, only rich/ok/lean. So even you connect the stock o2 sensor to the auto timer and it gives you a read out in numeric form, it is not the real A/F value of what the engine produced.

Yes, it is possible. You will have to setup the auto timer to work with the wideband sensor you purchase. The auto timer manual shows you the default value for the o2 sensor read out, and how to adjust it to read the wideband sensor you use.

Replacing the stock o2 sensor with a wideband o2 sensor (just the sensor, nothing else) will make your car not run right because the ecu was programed to read the stock o2 sensor.

There are many wideband unit (not just the sensor, but with the controller and the display) that can be programed to send narrow band signal, but it has nothing to do with the sensor. The controller does that. Plus the stock o2 wiring is 1 to 3 wires, where as the wideband is a 7 wire sensor. So I have no idea how you attach the wideband sensor to the stock wiring.

My bad, i don't believe i explained myself that well.

I'm going to leave the stock o2 sensor alone connected to the ECU how it should be, however i want to purchase just the wideband sensor and install that into my downpipe where it goes. Instead of hooking up the wideband to the gauge, id like to hook the wideband sensor up to my Apexi Auto Timer so the A/F value on that unit will actually be reading the correcte A/F via the sensor.

Would that work?
The Apexi timer has only 1 wire for reading A/F so not sure how i would go about hooking up a 7 wire sensor to it.

Go buy a wide band sensor gauge like Innovativ. They have an narrow band o2 sensor output that you can tie back into the stock sensor wiring/ecu/turbo timer. That will do everything you're trying to do.

But that wouldnt fix the issue of the ECU looking for a narrow band o2 signal...well, unless he's running a PFC and just turn off the o2 sensor feedback.
