had a body guy who's a friend of mine get kinda custom with the engine bay of my 89 hatch. Sprayed some Prowler Orange chromabase. I'm hoping everything turns out good after the motor gets in there.

The first pic is the "before" pic if you were wondering.

nice color choice
but too 'signal' style. :(

I was hoping for something even a little darker. in person, it's not so "halloween" or whatever, but I hear what you're saying. Honest, I wasn't trying to mimic signal.

Tell your buddy buddy he did an awesome job on the engine bay and paintjob. I like it - simple-looking and clean. You can't go wrong with those two combinations. If only my engine bay was so shiny.

Looks very nice. Maybe something for me to add to the list.

:D yeah c'mon! I really like how smooth that looks. I'm assuming the rest of your car is that color (or going to be that color eventually.) Gots to have love for an 89.

is bondo really going to hold up in the engine bay? I would have figured on some fiberglass filler, then alot of sanding and a thick primer and some more sanding.

Did he even use bondo? Looks like the holes were welded and ground down. If any filler was used it was just for small smoothing... I don't see why it wouldnt hold up.

And btw.... Looks nice, good luck keeping it clean! :D

Thanks guys!!! I had this picture of it in my head, and the 2 weeks it took my guy to do it I was so nervous that his vision would be similar to mine. He used duraglass for most of the smoothing, not sure what else went over that, but his goal was to make it as strong as possible, which is why welding was used wherever possible. Another thing he did that I liked was stripped off all of that caulking garbage and spot welded in its place. should make it even a little tougher than stock.

The SR is going in this weekend, however I'm making it hard on myself by trying to keep the clean look in the engine bay. Gonna do my best to keep it looking nice.

I've never had custom body work done so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was more than happy to pay my guy $600 for labor and materials. It's good to know people!!!!

The exterior is gonna be the same color. not sure how I want to go about customizing the exterior. I want to keep a very clean look, however I'd rather not keep everything stock. Open for suggestions.

any thoughts on the Uras kits? I remember seeing some pretty good looking stuff on raretrick.com a while ago. i'll have to go back and look again to see if any of them get the seal of approval.
