So I been helping a friend put his sr back together after he took it apart to put in arp head studs and a new head gasket. While resetting the timing, the car wouldn't run at all with the cas set per fsm instructions, but runs when the cas is installed roughly 90° ccw from the alignment dot. The cas is brand new also. Anyone ever run into an issue like this before?

Cam Timing is probably wrong

Cam timing is good, 20 rollers between marks, was checked about 10 times, and the motor puts out 150 compression on all cylinders.

i had a problem like this a long time ago.. i just ran the motor with the timing lookin all weird, but it ran good, so i didn't care. I know this doesnt help, just lettin you know.
A friend of mine had his CAS set just like yours and when we pulled the motor apart we found out the cam timing was off 1 tooth.

Chain is off, or you weren't at TDC when you set it.

If it was a case where your weren't TDC when setting it, would the car still run fine, but have low compression?
