How important is setting the backlash on the rearend gears when you change the diff? This will be for my stock rear diff assembly, pinion, and ring gear on a helical diff. We have the tools here at school to set the backlash, I've just read it's very difficult and time consuming and I plan on swapping the differential myself. Thanks.

When its something on the magnitude of tolerances from .0039 to .0059in, that should be a good indicator of how important it is.

Thanks Halz. I was just curious because I see a consistant number of threads about swapping differentials, and not one thread concerning setting the backlash. Thanks again.

Its something you want to have correct. Out of spec backlash could cause anything from excessive noise to premature gear failure. Google search differential backlash. I found some pretty good info sites when i was doing my kaaz swap.
