*Interesting Notes/Additions*

- First RE game in which you can run and gun - meaning you can walk/run and shoot.

- First RE where you can use a cover system

- Takes place before RE 2

- Can alter the storyline of the entire RE Universe, essentially.

- Zombies interact with the situation - e.g. If one is bleeding, zombies will hunt more because they smell the blood. This is also tactical on the flipside being as you can injure an enemy and the zombies will hunt them more.

- If your player suffers defeat, you become a zombie and cannot respawn until your zombie is put down.

- You can use zombies as shields

I don't like this direction for RE. RE5 was the start of them going in another direction. I'm more looking forward to the direction in Revelations on 3DS.

Though it is a completely different engine - this is more to the roots of RE than RE5 and RE4 though.

Back in Raccoon city, and they have said many times they want to make this scary again. I like the action, but I know I am against the tide of many die-hard fans of the old system. I like the new run and gun, tactical direction rather than the old stand in your place and aim way.

They are incorporating many old faces too - Leon, hunk, the licker, etc.

My favorite thing is that it is back in Raccoon city...

Seems little by little they are making RE into a 3rd party shooter rather than survival horror. Meh I will pass on this. If I want to play a shooter I'll just pop in GOW3. MW3, etc.

Though it is not the old system of having few bullets and small spaces to navigate, the survival horror is still a focus for them, reportedly.

I think it is cool that the Zombies are smart and interact to what is going on around you - e.g. If one of the 4 people in your t=squad is bleeding heavier than the others, he becomes more of a target for the zombies who can smell the blood. This itself is a great tactical addition, in my opinion, and adds to the genre.

I'm a sucker for Resident Evil but for the last few releases I've had to force myself to finish playing. I'm interested in seeing how the "run and gun" will actually work but consider me interested in trying this relase out :)

That's what I'm talking about. It's more gears of war then RE now. I like the emphasis on horror more then running and gunning. RE4 was the perfect mix I think. RE5 was a completely different game that I didn't even bother playing.

It is definitely different, I guess I am simply in the welcoming change boat.

RE has had a super dated control scheme, I mean it has hardly ever evolved since RE1. I am happy about the change, and I am excited about the crazy action addition.

I do know what you mean though, it will not be as much survivor horror anymore, more action horror, for sure. I simply am excited to see the direction this one goes in... I for one think it looks super promising. It looks FUN, which is the most important thing in any game, right?

Yeah the original games control scheme is def. not acceptable any more, but RE4 nearly nailed the perfect control scheme. If they could just make it so you can strafe and move when aiming it would be perfect. But even with that control scheme RE4 didn't through out all the survival horror aspects.

I do like the idea of this game, and I hope it is really good. I'm just going to wait-and-see before getting too excited.

Like I said Revelations for 3DS is supposed to be an old school type RE game but with a RE4 control scheme. That's why I'm pretty pumped about that one, even though I don't own a 3DS yet.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City - The Basics - PlayStation 3 Preview at IGN (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/116/1161218p1.html)

Interesting preview, answers a few questions and really shows the direction they are heading with this...

i aggree that i miss the original RE type of gameplay with the fixed camera views. But I did play the hell out of RE5, it was fun playing with a friend..

But just wasn't very scary and I miss that about the OG games.

^ my thoughts exactly. the mercenary mode was pretty cool and the weapon selection/upgrade system was great. the fact that you couldnt run and gun pissed me off when shit hit the fan.

That's the other thing...I like single player games. Not a fan of playing with people online. I'm just old school like that. I'd rather have a buddy over and drink some beer and try and solve puzzles together.

Well, they did say the game could be played co-op or single player - so this isn't an online only game. They really have focused alot on the story line and trying to create something new and interesting into an old plot.

It will be interesting to see how it unfolds as a bad guy, because obviously, usually in RE you are the good.

While I'm like everyone else and miss the old games, I'm just glad they finally got back to actual friggin zombies....I mean, it all started with the T-Virus, and that's what everyone knew....even the sequels were just mutations that were really bad-ass....but then with 4, it was like they said, "Hey, you know that virus we made up that explained the whole RE Universe? F*** it....let's make some bugs instead." I was disappoint....I wish they would do a box set of all the old games (or at least plot/story-lines) on newer systems....give them a chance with better graphics and controls..../end rant

Graphics look sweet and seems like a fun game to play but man I cant get away from GOW3 and MW3. Still also playing Dead Space, Fatal Frame 2, Silent Hill 2, and Black Ops! lol I'm wondering what's the next Japanese storyline they will incorporate into another shooter type game that's both scary and exciting to play. :naughtyd:
