Hey all, I just got my first 240SX yesterday :D It's a 1996 base model 5spd. Some minor issues that I was hoping some members here could help me out with. 2 main things wrong with car is 1) the door doesn't line up properly, I have to like push up and in to close the door, I've uploaded pics to show you guys exactly what I'm talking about, any idea whether it's the actual hinge that needs to be replaced or is it the bolt thingy? and 2) It seems that when I open the throttle up after shifting, the car doesn't seem to react very fast, is this normal for a 240 or is there something wrong with my clutch/tranny?

You need a Door Hinge Adjuster. $45 to buy one or head to a local body shop and tip the guy.

Where can I get one of these? And also, that first pic is the door about to be closed, the 2nd pic is the door fully closed. It's a really bad gap, like maybe 1.5-2 inches off.

the door sag is a very common thing in s14s. i am pretty sure most body shops can fix it easily

How much do you think they'll charge me? and is door adjustment something I can do myself?

We need more that just the door to body pic to tell you how to adjust the door, like the hinge pic. You do need to loosen the hinges to see if you can move to door up.

Here's some more pics of the hinge. Well, I had more than one, but I just uploaded the best one since it appears I already hit my upload limit, lol.

If you see that screw and you still cannot tell the problem, you should not fix your car...

I don't think that screw is the problem, obviously it's not the nissan pin, but I can't imagine that one piece would cause my door to sag as much as it does, I just measured, and it's almost exactly 1" too low to fit the lock. I think it's definitely something to do with the actual 2 hinges holding the door to the car. And for adjustment, do I need the top or bottom hinge? Or will I need to move both? Because I can access the bottom hinge fairly easily just be taking my fender well cover off instead of having to take the entire fender off.

You can get them at Advance Auto Parts ($45), or online at many stores, google "door hinge adjuster"(~$32 shipped).

If you aren't familiar with the tool, I'd go with the expectation of paying $20 for fixing my door, considering I was at a body shop asking about paint and the guy working there just whipped out the tool and fixed my door gap for me on the spot for free (although mine wasn't nearly as bad). Hopefully this is all you need. :hide:
