Ok so it all started like this. I have a 1997 nissan 240sx SE that did not come with a VLSD(YEAH!!! One wheel wonder) So to change that I went to the Junk Yard and got my self a 1996 J30 VLSD. I bolted it on my car with no problems, the only thing was that my car did not have ABS so the driveshaft barely fit but I installed it anyways. After I started driving I notice I slight rattle noise coming from under my seat every time I pressed on the gas pedal going 30mph or more. To tell you the thruth I do not remember if it did before a change the pumking. Anyways I thought it was the driveshaft being to tight on there so I order my self an ABS 1 peice driveshaft to see if it would solve the problem. After I installed and drove it for a while I notice that the sound was still there. It is not to loud or it does not make my whole car shake or anything. I was thinking of turning the driveshaft 90 degrees and see what would happen. What do yall think it is.

Exhaust or down pipe slamming into the underbody. Get new exhaust hanger bushings. They will stop annoying vibrations in the cabin.

So did you get the right driveshaft lenght now? I was helping somebody with their swap an the shaft they had was too long and part of the shaft pass the impeller was slightly touching the dust boot, causing the car to vibrate.

I got it fixed I think, Last night I took the car out for a long drive and the sound started getting worst, it started to make this grinding sound. So I took the car back home and put it up on jack stands. I notice that the back of the driveshaft has some scrapes around it. I took the driveshaft off to see what was wrong, well the e-brake line came off the brackets and was scraping against the shaft. The noise got worst because the shaft eat off thru the plastic cover of the e-brake like and was hitting the metal. I put the e-brake lines back in the brackets and took the car for a drive and the sound is off.

Ok so the noise is still there. Is not the exhaust, when I bought my new exhaust I put new bushing on it. I think the driveshaft is good it has a lot of room to move back and foward. My new diff did not come with bushings so I had to use my s14 ones. Do yall think it could be out of aligment due to the bushings being different sizes?
