Is it safe to run this oil? And would you prefer the Nissan filter due to the oil stop in it? I use to run this only in my Sentra but that had they SR20DE in it. But since the KA is a different motor I dont know it that well.
Thanks

You will not be able to find any oil in the store that is meant for gasoline automobile engines that isn't safe to run in your car.
Mobil 1 is fine.

NO DO NOT RUN MOBIL 1!!!!
there is a detergent that they use, that chemically converts the iron block into magnesium.. as soon as the spark plug fires your car will explode.
j/k
any oil, that isnt a cooking oil, is typically good enough to run a KA.. hell, i ran on about a quart of rotella oil in one of my old KA's for a VERY long time (didnt realize i was leaking oil from the turbo drain, and it drained down to the lowest spot on the turbo drain.. after 3 months, i drained the oil, and only a quart or so came out)
after fixing the leak, i topped it off with 4 new quarts, and it ran like a champ for about a year or so, until i sold the car.

I have owned a Miata and Sentra w/ SR20DE in it and have been advised not to use certain oils, so I was making sure that this isnt the same case. I have owned a 240 before but it already had the SR swap when I bought it. Not much knowledge on the KA so knowing me I will end up asking alot of stupid little questions. But I would rather be safe then sorry.
But another thing that wasnt answered was about the oil filter. I ran the nissan filter because he had the drain stopper in it to allow oil to stay in the filter for no dry starts. I was told this makes the engine last a bit longer cause its not so harsh on it. Is this the same for the KA, would you recommend it? I dont plan on keeping the KA in it for too long but for now until I can afford the swap I want to to last and me be able to sell the motor for a fairly decent price.
Thanks guys for the time!

Been running synthetic oil in my 1993 240 ka since new. The majority of it was Mobil 1. No engine related problems whatsoever. My engine runs as good as it did when i drove new out the dealership.
I've heard of cases where someone putting synthetic in an older car might see leaks because the previous owner had an engine so dirty that the dirt actually clogged the leaks much like "stop leak" chemical additives do. That's because the newer oil cleans out the really old one thus cleaning out the goo clogging the leaks. That's rare though.

I run Mobil 1 in my s14. I actually switched it over to Mobil 1 from Royal Purple. I just recently acquired my s14 a while back and the previous owner was using the purp, but I'm not fond of that stuff!

From what I've read/ heard is that Royal Purple is good oil for a short time, after some track sessions or heavy spirited driving the viscosity of the oil breaks down substantially. Mobil 1 holds up a lot better plus it's much easier to come by. So that's why I switched to Mobil 1.

Mobile 1 full with mobile one filter. All that touches my car
And most filters have that shut to keep oil in it.
Ps royal purple ruines engines. It's good to make like 3hp more on the dyno. But does a horrible job at lubricating the engine. Mobile ftmfw!
