Does anyone else have their wipers keep scratching up the windshield? I have 2 major scratches over the path of the windshiled wipers on the drivers side and a third one forming. Could it be from wipers wearing down or is it just a 240SX defect? How hard is it to change a windshield? Thanks.

might gust be dirt - try to clean it first
otherwise CHANGE THE WIPERS
they do wear out
windshieds are hard to do
prob the wiper blades, change them! prob too worn down.

hahhaha, do you have wiper blades on them? :)
but anyway, wipers wont actually scratch the winshield. winshields are pretty dam tuff, like only diamond or another piece of glass can put an actual scratch on the window...if the "scratch" bothers you, you can just buff it out

1. Don't turn the wipers on when the windshield is dry, this will scratch it no matter how craptastic your blades are...
2. When was the last time you got new blades?

This happened to me once. I'm not sure what happened but the wiper blade separated itself from the end of the arm....it came out of the hooks. Once fixed, I never had the problem again.
You may be using refills that are too small or too narrow or just too cheap. Make sure you get refils that are the right size and you should be fine. There aren't any defects with the mechanism as far as I know.
Best wishes,

I had some brand new blades last winter, and I went to scrape off the ice from my windshield...and I got too close to the blade and it scraped off the ice and a notch of rubber from the blade. After that, it would rub right where the notch was and would leave a streak of water also.

umm I had the same problem in my U13 ... its not a defect ..its more like the wiper blade scratching the windshield , now I have this ugly scratch on my windshield... sucks...maybe I can try and buff it out ...but my best bet would be to replace the wiper blades. -GoKu

Correct:
*turn on wipers* **SKREECH!** *turn off wipers*. Replace.
Incorrect:
*turn on wipers* **Skreech skreech skreech skreech...** *get to location and turn off car*. "That damn car sucks. Wipers broke my windshield!"
You can probably get some sort of window glass-fill pen, look online or talk to a windshield shop and ask how they fill rock chips. Then buy that stuff. Replacing a windshield is a pain in the ass, and will cost about $300 for a good windshield, or $500 for a good windshield and installation. Full coverage insurance in most states cover windshield damage, because it's a safety issue. Don't trust one of those $150 fixer-up special shops, cuz my gf's car has one of those, it has stress cracks from just sitting in the sun, leaks around the edges, and has many rock chips. Also, during the installation, they messed up the weatherstripping around the windshield, so it makes a whistling noise on the highway. The installation also looks like it was done by a 10 year old, with the adhesive glue spattered all over the place, and leaking out
