Been running a S13 SR in my S14 with a T28 @ 8psi with no tune for some time and now thinking about getting it tune finally. Planning on the rom tune route and have a few questions before getting the tune.
Will it be better if I send my own datalog to the tuner or will I be better off getting a off the shelf map, log it and get the tuner to make a new rom?
Looking forward to use the LM2 with the optional data cable to do the datalog. It can log rpm along with 4 additional channels with the optional cable. Logging throttle position, knock sensor, injector duty, maf; or should I focus on other sensor data?
Thanks in advance

U don't need a tune on a stock T25/28 turbo.

....Whatever dude. If T25 can achieve 85% duty cycle on the SR 370cc when pushing 12psi, what makes you think you do not need a tune running a bigger turbo with more boost?

The more data you can supply for your tuner, the more fine your tune will be, or there will be alot of guessing.

Yeah.... You need a tune on a bigger turbo, bigger injectors I'm not a idiot. But if your running stock t25/t28 key word STOCK. Why do u need a tune for such turbo? Why spend 500+ on a tune when you really dint need it for a stock t25/28.
If he's talking about say a HKS 2860, disco potato, 2871r ext then I can completely understanding needed a tune. But not the stock t25/28 turbo's.

Key word, TUNE. He wants to TUNE his engine...
You truly have no idea what you're talking about.
Tuning the stock turbo/engine will most def show positive results and performance gains, which im sure is why he wants to TUNE his engine.
OP - Like mentioned by RACETUNE, the more you give the finer your tune will be.

If my car ran perfectly fine with great gas mileage with the stock T25 turbo before and it runs with 2-4 less mpg with the T28 making way less power, I need a tune.
Have you ran a S13 SR with a S14 turbo before? Or can you throw a T28 to the S13 SR, just turn the boost to 16psi and have it run perfect A/F ratio? If you have not, please stop giving advise..
What's the point of replacing the stock turbo with a bigger one and makes the same power? You want more lag?
For our maf base cars, as long as the maf and injectors aren't max out, of course we do not need a tune (in theory). If you want to give me crap about how I did not say I am going to put bigger injectors and Z32 maf and other shits in the thread, you win...
Last but not least, have you seen what a stock car can gain with just a tune?

No he has not, hence his words of wisdom...... :ddog:

i use to tune cars on the dyno and on the street. the most important information i used to watch all the time is the A/F ratio. we would always make sure the a/f ratio is within the ball park before tuning for power. we were using a Motec data logger and the information that we would see on real time are a/f ratio, rpm, manifold pressure, tps position, water temp, etc. so showing your tuner the a/f ratio on maf (during vacuum and boost) and rpm is very important. and of course the size of the turbo and injectors. and yes, you can gain horsepower and fuel mileage from a stock engine just by tuning the ecu.
