when i bought the car the drivers side window would not go down however the passanger side would and the sunroof worked fine. the switch for the driver side window was loose and f'd up. Recently the passanger window and the sunroof went out at the same time. anyone know why? my guess was a fuse but i couldnt find a window fuse. ive read the amp could need to be soddered but would that wipe out all the windows? any help would be nice

I recently had to replace my driver side window switch due to only able to roll the passenger side down and one direction of the door locks working. I did however take apart the amp and found a spot on the "board" that needed re-soldered.. I replaced the switch and all is working fine now.

To answer your question, not sure if the "amp" supplies power to your sunroof.. i would check relay's and then possibly check out the "amp" just to make sure the solder points look ok.. I remember hearing something about the passenger side possibly having a amp as well so.. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help man I'm taking a hard look at it again this weekend. I just ordered a driver side door switch.

I need to try that. My passenger window only rolls down and I have to jumper it to get the window to roll up.

Did you get the complete switch with auto-down feature? New, from where? Mine is pretty worn out and will need a replacement someday.

I had my driver window stop working over the weekend. It would make a "click" when I'd use the switch. I took the amp out, moved the wires, and it worked enough to get the window up. Time to take it apart and check for soldering... Thanks for the tip.

There is a test procedure on the FSM to test if the switch is good or bad.
The sunroof gets its power from the power window relay so that's a good place to start along with the power window fuse.
If the driver window does not work, check amp, motor, and the switch. "Click" usually means the switch is working.

Hrm...correct me if im wrong, but wont the passenger window not roll down if the window amp is fried? This happened to me not to long ago. It actually came down to my window motor being fried

Not necessarily. On early S14s, the amp box only handles the driverside window. The amp feature for the passenger side window is built into the switch. Why the hell Nissan didnt do this to begin with is beyond me. Later on model S14s didnt have the amp box, and the amp feature was built into the switch themselves.

Like already stated, most of the time, for early S14s, the problem is a bad amp box. Most folks just resolder some bad joints on the board. Mine didnt have anything that looked bad but I replaced it anyways and fixed my driver side window issue.

Ahhh!
Gotcha, thanks for the clearing that up for me. That makes perfect sense.

Since this question was answered and I'm having a window issue as well....Thread-Jack!

Problem:

When I press down on the switch, the window goes up and also has auto-up. When I press up on the switch, the window goes down. Thoughts? It doesn't appear that the stock harness has been hacked on or modified at all.

Mine did that when my motor was plugged in backwards...or maybe someone used a passenger motor that is wound the other way?
