I have my headlamps taken apart now, and I've removed any rubber components from the headlamp assemblies so they won't melt in the oven. But, I still have two things that I need to remove but can't.
First, I need to remove the low beam H1 harness that's attached to the black plastic headlamp housing. This connects with red/black wires to the actual clip that holds the H1 bulb in place. Anyone know how to take this out? The way it mounts is very simple, it just slides into a flat plastic piece, but it won't budge for me.
Second, I can't remove the high beam rubber gasket/weatherstrip circular section. Can this even be removed or is it part of the housing assembly itself? It surrounds the opening of the high beam bulb cutout on the back of the headlamp.
thanks! have a good thanksgiving everyone!
one quesiton, why are you taking them apart?

I don't think it'll be anytime soon. I mean, it's going to be freezing soon. Maybe on a good day early next year :)

there's much tweaking that needs to be done, but overall I'm pretty happy.
Hmmmm, I think I may have to come over and take a look at those badboys :D Nice work

hmmmmmmmmm
very nice work....
overall from a scale of 0-10 (10 being hard as fuck) how would you rate this conversion for D.I.Y?
I say you should paint your corners, they are easier to take apart than the headlights.

Seriously, compared to what others do @ hidforum.com, this rates at about a 4-6, 4 being for ppl who are very experienced with taking things apart, putting things back together. I have a hard time with that, so it was about a 6 for me. Definately not plug and play, BUT the most plug and play out of most cars out there since we have projector housings.
NZO, I saw you yesterday pulling into Safeway ;)
Also, I got a lot of help from two other ppl who did this mod.

I would definately give this a try after putting money into other parts of my car. Prepare to get PMed like a MoFo in the future. :)

low beam xenon. a few reasons why:
- bi-xenon motors will make it a pain to fit them inside the housing
- single xenon is nearly plug and play, as long as you drill the holes correctly
- we have separate, and very decent high beams.
but, for those who want to try bixenon retros, be my guest. I'm sure it's doable, it's just you'll probably have to trim the chrome fittings around the projector.

no trim rings. It's tough to get them unless you buy the whole bmw housing or get lucky with a seller. anyway, these are audi tt e-codes.

I was facing safeway from valdora, haha. anyway, it's really simple man. all you gotta do is drill four new holes essentially. I'm not too much of a handy man and I'm a perfectionist, so it took me longer.
what projectors are you using?
