Z32 brakes

I got a question, I did my brake swap yesterday and i bought a set of steal braided lines. When I tried to hook it up the calipers, I realized it wouldnt work. The fitting is way different. The Lines I got has the same fitting on both ends, basically the same fitting on the end of the 240sx that connects to the chassis. The stock 240sx caliper lines are different, it uses a thread bolt that has a hole in it. Does the 300zx brakes use the thread bolt fitting or does it up a *nipple* on it? Cuz I ended up plugging my stock line into the Z32 calipers thats why im wondering. I was told they were 93 twin turbo calips *30mm irons*

Z brakes and 240sx brakes use different fittings. You need the Z32 hardlines (6" curved hard line coming out of the caliper) or conversion lines (which have a fitting on the end that converts the BPT fitting to the banjo fitting.)
If you have an Earl's retailer near you, take both sets of lines in and show him what you need.

Or if you can return the lines you have and get the Aeroquip convsion SS lined from PDM. There made specifically for using Z32 brakes on S chassis car. Only 80 bucks too!

well i got my lines done by a regular company that deal with stainless steel lines. I told them what i wanted and they did it in about 1 hr.. charged me $60 for front and rear. maybe if you know of a company like this near you, you can try getting them there. ..

Both the Z32 and the 240SX calipers use 10mm fittings... on the Z32, Nissan used a hardline to go to the caliper, this is because of the different suspension geometry on the Z32. The hardline uses a male inverted flare fitting. However, the caliper can accept either the inverted flare fitting or a banjo fitting (ie. the stock 240SX caliper fitting). The banjo bolt will thread on properly and seal properly.

We have installed several Z32 calipers this way on the 240sx. Also FYI, on the S15 Silvia, which uses the same Sumitomo calipers as the Z32, Nissan used a banjo fitting:

Also a little tidbit, on the clutch slave cylinder for the 240SX, Nissan used a inverted flare fitting, while on the Z32 Nissan used a banjo bolt; the slave cylinders are similar. Based on the Nissan cars I have worked on, the general rule is Nissan uses a banjo bolt whenever they need the line to enter at a 90deg angle, and a male I.F. fitting if they need it to enter straight or whenever they use a hard line...
