Hello, I'm having a little problem with my 150,000 Mile 93" 240SX Coupe DOHC. I purchased this car 2-3 week's ago, still haven't gotten it on the road(tag/isurance), notice ( first day I purchased the car, it had no problems what so ever ) Suddently yesturday I decide to go turn it on for a quick warm up, sence it's been sitting for a couple of day's, It does not have any idle problem, but it does shake alot from 900rpm - 1000rpm, after that if i left it at a stable 2000rpm the shaking will stop. Along with this, the exhaust is blowin out WHITE SMOKE, and a extremely strong smell of gas, pisses me off when people bitch about the smell sence I have bigger problems then to worry about gettin light headed at the moment.
Current Condition
- Oil still needs change ( verry dirty )
- Spark plug wires look like SHIT
- Not sure about the plugs themselves, or the Radiator
- Not only have i spent all my money on gettin this car, but now i need to waste MORE of the money i currently saved up to get my isurance and tag  I haven't even driven the car enough to get problems what the hell...
can someone list things i should do to help this problem.
Would be greatfull if you guy's can tell me what's wrong.
no ( time to get SR ) comments please :wtc:
check all your intake hoses a cracked hose could caust the rough idle, and is that really the pictureof your motor ? it looks really clean... and white smoke ? might need a new catconverter... im no tech, its just some ideas... and you spelt wrong... wrong... err.. incorectly might be more gramaticly correct, yes you speeld wrong incorectly

White smoke is steam. It could be condensation from not driving the car, or if it doesn't go away, it could be head gasket, warped head etc.

Start by pulling the plugs out and inspecting them. they can tell you alot. Look down in the holes with a flashlight. Tell us what you find.

1st and 4th plug wires sometimes have oil on them, also the 4th plug looks verry eaten up and burned. I can take picture's if you want. I'm not sure about the spark plug's. The previews owner keept on telling me to change the plug's, oil, etc... tune up. But at his house it wasn't causing any problems.

Also something I noticed, the 4th plug has a rusty color to it, and it wasn't oil.. it looks like some kindda orange liquid, almost like a dark orange/ rust color, But yeah the last plug looks really really bad.

Isn't your car a convertable? I was wondering if calling a convertable a coupe is technichally correct. All 94's were convertables.
Maybe you have bad motor mounts. Maybe your timing is way off somehow. Change the oil and change all the wires and plugs, then go from there.

Look at your VIN. The eight digit from the right (back) should be R if it is a '94, P if it is a '93.
It sounds like there's oil getting into your combustion chamber. Blown rings/warped head? Your car should not idle as high as 2,000rpm. Normal KA idle is about 750. I've only seen mine go to 2000 once, it was ridiculously cold outside. If fixing your oil problem doesn't help your shifter and car shaking, I'd look at the motor mounts. It should also shake if not all 4 cylinders are firing, and they might not be, your plugs and wires don't sound like they're in the best of working conditions. If I were you, I'd start by changing the oil, plugs and plug wires. Then I'd check the oil level every morning before I start it up. If it all remains the same, you might wanna look into purchasing a lower-mileage KA that's been swapped out for an SR from one of these guys on the board. Either that, or rebuild that thing in ther right now. Good luck.

thank you, it was running fine last week, and i haven't pushed the car or anything as of the day i purchased it, hopefully it's the oil and spark plugs

When you cleaned up the engine bay (after you bought it I presume)...did you powerwash the engine?? Cause you could have forced water under the spark plug caps. When you reinstall new plugs, make sure to lube (very lightly) the threads of the plugs with some white lithium grease so it form some what of a barrier that water cannot pass.
If you car jerks like that and shoots out white smoke its probably oil or oil+water. If the smoke is blue-ish, then you might have a leaky injector. Either way, I believe the engine will shake like that if one of the cylinders isnt firing correctly since the engine would be out of balance.

You may have to adjust the idle if your car is shaking. If the idle is to low, a shaking will occur in the steering wheel. It's happened with the cars we have and a quick adjustment was all that was needed. For teh white smoke, you may have a big problem there.

Change the oil and plugs. Do you have an ohm meter to test the wires with? You may want to check them out if they are as bad as you say they are.
As said before, "white smoke" could be steam from starting up on a cold day. Does the car smooth out when it gets warm? Have you let it get warm? Also, if there was oil on top of your plugs, you may want to clean or replace your valve cover gasket.
Definitely check for water under the spark plug caps. That will definitely cause shaking. If there is any water, soak as much up with a paper towel as you can-- get it dry. It could be shorting the spark and causing a cylinder not to fire. Cylinders not firing cause shakies :-)
