ok i have a 93 s13 coupe and i want a new stereo cause the factory one is about dead. i want a double din touch screen but everywhere i'm reading says it doesn't fit. the hole in the dash is defiantly double din size but i cant find any info confirming the it will in fact work. can someone with more audio experience clear this up for me? i searched double din, stereo, audio and some other things but didn't get what i needed. and if modification needs to happen to make it fit what does that involve. thanks in advance.

To get it to fit really good, you will want to make your own holes on the factory radio bracket to set the new radio further back in the dash opening. You will then use the trim ring that comes with the new radio. Basically you want the OEM trim panel to perfectly touch the trim ring of the new radio when you snap it in place. I recommend ovaling out the holes in the OEM bracket. That way you can fine adjust where the new radio sits, front to back, by simply loosening those screws and slide it forward or back. Picture of mine for reference:

thank you for your honest reply. i knew if i was reading that it didn't fit and the hole was big enough the was a trick to it. using the factory holes does it sit too far in the dash or stick out of it? and waxball i like the gauge pod with the vent. did you make that yourself?

I picked up last years Pioneer ADV P4200 and it suffers from the unusual gap that our double din pockets have....
Mounted the face of the new radio about 1/4" past flush and afixed the trim ring to the stock bezel with some 3m tape...looks stock and is much nicer than the 10yr old alpine that came with the car.
Depending on the brand of the double din unit you have to mount it proud or short of flush to get it to look right.

If you use the appropriate holes, the face of the radio will stick out past where the OEM radio face did. This is called ISO mounting.
Just so you know, I sell those gauge plates with or without angled rings. Unfortunately Zilvia removed all of my vendor threads accidentally except for a couple. You can find pics here though:

I don't have an s13 but in my s14 my pioneer avh fits pretty well. I think I need to make some custom holes as well because it does have a small gap underneath it.
Broadfeild, I could spend days drooling over the custom cluster and gauge work you do. :wackit:
