not sure if this is normal or not...just fixed my a/c for the first time in my dd (1990 s13 sohc) but whenever i turn it on the idle slowly fluctuates from 1000-1200 rpm when normaly it should be at 800 and its pretty annoying. people always think i reving at them at stop lights haha. i dont even like to have it on in parking lots...is that just how it is or is there somthing else wrong? never had a car with a/c before lol. would appriciate ne advice
thx!

Mine idles higher too when its on never thought anything of it really.. I don't think it would be a problem but idling at 1000rpm isn't that slightly higher han usual? At a standstill I'm at like 700

The car is supposed to idle higher to compensate for the extra load the AC is putting on it.

i know thats what im saying...normaly im also at about 700-800 rpm. but when the a/c is on it fluctuates from 1000-1200..i understand being a litle high when on but going up an down slowly is annoying and doesnt seem normal to me :-/

It should not idle 400 RPM's higher with the AC on. Something is not right. Have you checked to make sure your TPS is properly adjusted and working correctly? It sounds like it is hunting for the idle and cant get a steady idle so it is constantly jumping. Have you checked your AAC?

it shouldn't fluctuate. if its fluctuating then your a/c compressor is going bad. get it serviced before it gets frozen.

Hope not...bought that compressor used from a zilvia member last year who said it worked perfectly. Just got around to putting it on last week and it was a pain in the ass too..that's what get for being cheap :aw:
