is it hard to install one yourself properly?? how does it go in?

1) depends on the shifter
2) its straight forward if u take the time to look at it

I suggest you go out and get a 12mm ratcheting wrench. It'll help you immensly with getting to those hard to reach front bolts on the shifter plate. With the right tools and half a monkey's brain power, a B&M should take about 30 minutes to install. I'm not familiar with the other types.

It is quite simple.
- Remove console plate (on clips)
- Remove 4 shifter plate bolts
- Lift up on the rubber boot
Now here comes the slightly tricky part.
There is a C shaped retainer the holds the shifter in.
- Rotate the retainer around
- During rotation, slip one end out of the guide
- Keep rotating untill it pops out
- Remove the shifter
Then just swap the new shifter in, and repeat in reverse order.
