they may be 15's, but they are running a muchlarger series tire.
I imagine that they get better feedback with that larger tire size and quicker off the line with a smaller/lighter rim..

the whole idea behind the supermade s15 was to make a cheap and affordable demo car.
it has a very basic but nice s13 sr, converted 4 lug (for cheap tires and wheels) and not
over the top aero and paint.

personally i dig the small wheel look.

I dig this look too, seems beneficial for people who track/drift their cars and wants to save money on tires, on top of that it got the old school muscle look with meaty tires on older cars, which is the opposite of how hellaflush trend/style/movement is doing but both look good too

i wouldnt assume big wheels are worse for drifting. pros dont use them for style.

That Rocket Bunny car has like 17's. A far cry from 15's.

I was quicker off the line and in autocross.
and it was easier to keep the smaller rims spinning with a KA.

Downside is that it drifted pretty slow cause they would just be spinning without much traction.

Honestly that has to be a pretty good street set up. A lot of tire so it's comfortable. No need to worry about tubs and stretched tires. Tires are cheap. The list goes on and on.

Thing is this either you run 15's or go 17's.

Unfortunately here in the states tire choices for 16's are extremely minimal. 16's used to be the ideal size for our cars. They also used to sell more tire sizes in 16.

I like this thread but it seems only about half the people understand the style. The smaller wheels are because its a traditional look like on many classic cars. And the flares and hoops are a throwback as well. I think when done properly this style works great on S13's.

They have better taste. Not to mention, the parts are much cheaper over there, so being a cheap-ass doesn't mean you have to make your car look like AIDs.

Also, they put wheels THAT FIT onto their cars. They don't run around trying to find 15x19 -98 dirt track steelies to try and fit onto a car just to brag that they "fit" them.

Its not just better or better taste as I have seen some pretty bad looking bosozuku cars.
Its the fact that there is a lot of social pressure in Japan about appearances. Women don't leave the house without makeup. You don't say improper things. I believe this whole thing seeps into the car world over there. So even if the car is damaged they strive to make it look good anyways.

Its about the appearance factor.

I have seen clips come in from Japan with perfect exterior body panels and frame rails that were just tore up or rewelded. Like I said its all about outward appearance.

I've always thought a nice set of 15's looked good on 240's if you had decent offsets, the problem is like what others have already said, few will succeed in actually pulling it off where it looks good. jesus christ the only time i come zilvia is for sale threads and the one thread that seems cool is full of retards flaming it. you guys are some fukn assssss hoooooollleeesss with all sorts of dicks in em. who cares about how other people rock their cars. imo its better to be different than the same when it comes to cars. the average 240 owner builds his car to pretty basic standards and ends up selling it because he realizes how mediocre it is and how he looks like everyone else. that v8 silvia on the steal diamond racing wheels is sexy as fuck, its classy with a few twists and that guy knew what he was doing. this is and has been a trend in japan for awhile, it's mostly aesthetics and it works well with fender flares. god you guys know how to ruin a decent thread. grow up this isnt a fashion column its a car forum. you guys are acting like fukn women.

I agree. It started out with such promise. The four lug s15 and the two coupes looked awesome. Basically, I think it takes more work and money to pull off this look than people realize. When equips in a 15x8 cost almost twice as much as emotions in a 17x9 it's hard to justify going this route. Most people rocking 15s are looking to save money, and doing this look right is not going to save you money.
