It's been sitting awhile and I've been working on it as I've had time the last 2 years. I replaced the oil pump, timing chain guide, and did a tune up. I siphoned the old gas out, put fresh gas with a can of seafoam in. I've set the timing, but it won't start. It sounds like its close once or twice, but never does.

I've checked all the similar threads I could find, but what worked for them has only gotten me this far.

So, what else should I check?

check your plugs they are prob fouled now. you can try and spray carb cleaner into the intake manifold see if it fires over. If so prob a fuel problem, you will see when u check your plugs.

Went to replace plugs, decided to also replace my cap and rotor, Discovered after I pulled the rotor that the distributor shaft has been pushed way up (theres about a 1/4" gap between the bottom of the rotor and the distributor) which prevents the cap from even seating with the rotor on.

Any idea what would have caused this?
