Did a little searching but didn't really find anything. So has anyone put 6x9's in their s13? i don't really want 4x6 cause they dont sound as great as 6x9. But i did find that someone said that their is a mounting point behind the rear passanger side panels. So has anyone mounted it there before and how does it sound? if i don't get a ersponse i guess i'll prob be the first to find out.

Here is what I did, and what most people do. Just cut out the Rear Hatch Cover to fit the 6x9 speakers. Sounds real good, and its comes out in 1 min if you need it to.

I dont think you can fit 6x9 into the factory rear housing, although you can remove a plate the holds the 4x6 speakers. Take that out and see how much room you will have.

i went to the shop and the guy told me theres no way unless you cut some stuff which will be more expensive (that was for the rear). i think it was possible in the front but the hole doesnt fit exactly so air may get out and the sound will be a little off.

you can cut out the dash thing in the rear but you should look and see if they make "free air" 6x9's. i know they make free air subwoofers but i dont know about 6x9's. basically free air speakers dont need a sealed enclosure to put out good sound while the others need a sealed or ported one. a speaker that is for free air use is not the same as one thats best for ported enclosure. even if they dont make free air 6x9's they still work just not optimally. sorry i dont know anymore as i dont really keep up to date on audi stuff anymore. but i hope this helps your search at least a little.

That's a nice little mod for getting 6x9s in the back, but its also a great way to get someone to break into your car -- those things are visibile, plain as day, and can probably be ripped out of the car in two seconds by anyone, with no tools.

:/

Anywho, you dont have to run 4x6 in the front, you can run 6" but you'll have to make a custom mount for it out of plexiglass for it. Run a search in this forum with my name and you'll find the thread (I started it)

6" in the front and 6" in the rear (if you have a coupe) should be fine provided that they are good speakers. Try to get 3-ways w/ crossover or components with a crossover. :P

woot.

You can cut the rear of a coupe easily for 6x9 but I don't think its worth the hassle, especially since you cant use the stock grilles anymore...

I think for the hatch, the best way to go low profile is 6" in the front, 4x6 plate speakers in the back (4" speaker and a tweeter), and a sub or bigger speaker in boxes under the cover.

most midrange speakers are "free air" or infinite baffle.

6x9s along with 4x6s don't sound very good IMO, however, you could most likely fit a 5.25 round speaker in the rear, and throw a set of 6.5s in the front, and you have a decent setup.

i'd personally use something like an eclipse point source for the front, and possibly something like a pioneer rev for the rear.

it is all in the listeners ears, but i have heard enough crappy sounding systems to pay attention.

throw an Eclipse Aluminum 10" sub in a sealed box with a few hundred Watts RMS to it, and you will have something to be proud of.

Imagine two sealed 10s in there, oof.

I dont know how good 6x9s can sound since they are so far back there. The hatch cover is in the way along with the seats. I dont think that spot is very good acoustically.

Just go with 6" all around if you don't want to hassle with components.

Focal Componenets are the way to go if you get the right setup up front rear fills are not needed spend you money on a amp to amplifiy the fronts if it is done right it will be loud and sound full as you had rear spaekers and this was with out Kick pods.

who needs speakers? ...you guys know how heavy speakers and a deck are? I just rip it out and make refrigerator magnets with them.

I can never understand why people put 6x9s in the rear. If you're going to run a sub then you don't need 6x9s. And if you're not going to run a sub 6x9s in the rear will please your rear seat passengers but you will consider them a waste of money.

Get drivers with the best mid bass extension that you can fit in the front. Get quality 4x6s for the rear and get a sub with a good amp on it.
