Ok I search and search all kinds of info about VLSD's. But I havent found my answer.
So... Theres a Q45 at my local junk yard. I have a base S14, open diff 6 bolt obviously ... so can I swap the internals from the Q45 in to my open and use my 6 bolt output shafts?
The hassle of having to swap hubs, axles, and fitting the drive shaft flange just don't seam worth it

Open differential output shafts will not work with VLSD.

I had a feeling that they wouldn't cause I remember now reading that the lock ring is in the wrong location ...
but if I got J30 6 bolt output shafts would it work?

So your trying to use j30 internals and output shafts on your s14 correct?
Not sure about s14 but it wont work for s13. i tried and the ears wont fit on the open diff

You will need 5 bolt axels, the only LSDs that work with 6 bolt is aftermarket the few that use 6 bolt and HLSDs from the s15. These axels can be sourced from an Infinity J30. Once you have the J30 axels you can use the Q45, (maybe Z32), J30, 180sx, or many aftermarket designes.
