My engine makes a weird rapid knocking noise when I step on the gas pedal. It doesn't d it every single time but it does it more often than not. Any ideas what it could b?

you sure its your engine and not part of your suspension? look around your car and check and see if all your bolts are tight..

Sounds like you got a case of rod knock my friend my motor was doing that for about a month till a month and a half ago my ka24e decided to take a shit on me car still runs but I don't drive it in fear of it leaving me stranded on the side of the hwy

What would I have to replace or fix? Is this a big problem?

If it is a rod knock, it'll be alot cheaper and easier to buy another motor.

Yupp that's what im doing you could do a rebuild but ur pretty much gonna pay the same price for a used motor

Without actually hearing it its hard to say. It definately could be a rod. If it is and you know how to rebuild an engine I say rebuild bc its not a complex engine and yes it is about the same as used engine but if you rebuild youll have a practically new engine.
