ok so my tranny has no fluid i guess one of my seals busted i got under it today and removed the fill bolt (damn thats sucker was hard) and didnt feel any fluid as far down as i could reach with my finger.

so now i've never dropped the tranny or do i even have to, to replace the seal? can i go on only replacing the seal or will i have to replace something else like a bearing or something? i have no clue what im about to do, so some guidance will be greatly appreciated, i would like to replace the seal if it isnt to difficult?

what kind of trans fluid should i use?

and whats that lil pump called to fill the tranny with the fluid?

will i have enough clearance with only the front on jackstands? or should i lift the back also? will i have to pull out the tranny on a floorjack?

any price info on the seals either thefront or rear

damn thats a lot of questions but i gotta do this soon i miss driving my s13,btw its a 92 coupe with the KA.:)

peace TIA for the replys..i hope i get some replys

Have you noticed any leaks? Maybe the previous owner didn't fill it enough and it just needs to be topped off.

As for fluid, you want something 75w90. Many people swear by redline's oil; I personally have Amsoil in my tranny and it works fine.

For the seals, it depends on where the leak is; if there is one indeed. The rear driveshaft seal can be replaced with only removing the driveshaft I believe. Whereas the front seal on the input shaft has to be replaced with the tranny off.

The tranny can be a pain to remove, but it is an even greater pain to place it back in, especially if this is your first time doing it. Two jackstands on the front is fine, just adjust them so they are high enough. You do not need a tranny jack, but rather two people and something to rest the tranny on when you pull it off (I used a bunch of thick sears catalogs to cusion it as it came out).

You don't really need that little pump, as you can fill the tranny through the shifter. Just have that fill plug out and keep filling until fluid pours of the hole.

If you find out you need to pull the tranny, I can post a step by step if need be.
