The 180sx front is a bit of a work in progress atm. The idea behind it was basically to do something a little different, there would be a very small number of S14 Onevia's in Aus so we took the plunge. We have come across the most common issue with the conversion and that is the front bar and sideskirts not lining up correctly, so something to work on!

and a little update:

Just over a month ago we had round two of the local state championships, hoping to place well enough to have a chance at taking out the series again this year.... but had a little too much fun doing backwards entries into turn One and blew my 3rd gear.

Unfortunately I didn't qualify well missing a gear so didn't have time to swap the box out for another.

Backies! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=ExyuAlfGJnA)

I literally had 3 days to find another gearbox before final preparations for the International Drift Challenge in Sydney as a part of the World Time Attack Challenge. Many people want outrageous prices for gearboxes here to while desperate for one I had to shop around. Ended up sourcing a gearbox and also sourcing an RB26 gearset so got my gearbox rebuilt also (was ready the next day!) - so now I have two gearboxes haha, the spare travels with me to any events just in case.

In Sydney there were a few teething issues with the drift challenge but we made do as much as we could. After an oil down due to one of the feeder lines we checked it all out, fixed it and added more oil, the car was running fine then for another few laps until it started knocking. It was all over, only got in one qualifying lap.

In two weeks I blew a gearbox AND a motor - my worst luck in 10 years of drifting

Now, with a week until the next competition - just a friendly comp at a track 1.5 hours away that will give the car a run in and hopefully everything is running well enough!

Following this the first round of the Australian Drifting Grand Prix is held on 24th and 25th September so we will be making the 10 hour drive over to compete!

We will hopefully be filming a professional promo vid at some stage this year also, in conjunction with the launch of our website.

At the moment though the focus is working on the motor and getting it back into the car... in a week! and hoping it runs well enough next weekend to be all good for ADGP, if not we have a 180sx in the shed as a bit of a fun project car (with an RB30DE+t)... so we will take that instead!

Mid 2009:

Tried as hard as i could to keep this under wraps.... but goddamn adelaide is too small and many people already know already. so..... Heres a build thread for the new car

I'm bringing back an old Drift car from SA... and this time its going to be driven properly and harder then the previous owners did This is Madcaps old car and i plan on building it and driving it into something more of an animal that it was back in its day

For those of you tuning in late.... i used to be into sprinters (owned 3 of them) then got me a ceffy from Darren Appleton. which i absolutely loved. going to longer wheel base really suited me and i threw this car around like all f**k... even won a comp in it and it was the most basic set up car you could ask for... had coilovers... lsd... 200 rwkw and that was it lol.

then i got the 32. spent some time and money on her and it was also an awesome car.... served me well so reliable and i still have it too! was so so so so much fun to drive and i never broke anything on it.

needed to buy a house... this meant selling a car... could not sell the 32 so i sold all the parts off it and turned it back into a street car. bought my house and the drift bug was still there so i built up my daily KE (didnt need a daily any more cause i got a work van then) the KE turned into a bit of an animal and came out quit well. However every time i drove it i just wasnt happy with it or my driving. i kept changing stuff but i got to the point where i realised that the snappy nature of the KE didnt suit my driving style.

soooooooo.... i sold it! took a week to sell and i couldnt believe it haha.

then i bought this

http://i53.tinypic.com/2lvi6hg.jpg

yes my shed looks like a bomb site atm... thats another work in progress also.

the gay blue is going... it will be painted ATC red (same as my rolla and jakes car) All Type Crash and AM Performance will be backing me and expect decent things! got an RB25 with a 3037s turbo kit, high mount manifold, hks gate and screamer happening.

http://i56.tinypic.com/2a7zvb9.jpg

Got my new turbo! looks great so i fitted it up to the motor....

http://i55.tinypic.com/350jltu.jpg
http://i53.tinypic.com/vgiook.jpg

did some more work on the motor, took turbo off the manifold to suss out the collector design and yeah... i dont think i'll run it. looks pretty average.

took the cam covers off so i could paint them. the motor is seriously mint! everything so clean and not a spot of carbon build up.

http://i56.tinypic.com/2m2x5ye.jpg

Exhaust manifold is being made from scratch, along with some cool as hell heat shielding. Put a fuel pump in the car and not a whole heap else has been done to it lately. Have started modding my LCA's and will take pics of that soon.

Got some wheels on the way, should have em by the end of the week, they are Work VS-XX in 17X9.5 +3 and 18X9.5 -7. they need some work done to them to make them look spot on but i'll get stuck into that soon. Going to paint the centres something bright and polish the lips.

http://i52.tinypic.com/dq6gw3.jpg
http://i55.tinypic.com/2wgdaqf.jpg
http://i51.tinypic.com/xnvuoy.jpg

more being done now... got motor in, and wasnt happy with the height or location of the motor, it sat fairly forward and the shifter was all the way front of the hole inside the car so i took the engine mounts off and chopped them to move the mounting spot 20mm further back, was harder to refit the motor but seems to sit better,

am going to get some custom engine mounts made which will sit it 30mm lower then it is now.

http://i52.tinypic.com/1zge0d0.jpg

car is even more stripped now lol but getting there, all rubbed back and ready for paint work, Paint will be done next weekend hopefully so decided to pull the glass out to make it easier to paint + cage work also.

http://i55.tinypic.com/5vcgn4.jpg
http://i55.tinypic.com/sl1bu0.jpg

Drilled the holes for riveting on the guards. took a bit of time to make sure it lines up ok. gonna look pretty good and flush once its done

http://i52.tinypic.com/ndrw1.jpg
http://i52.tinypic.com/157n61s.jpg

Made my own tailshaft too with the help of Scotty rowe who machined up a sleeve for me. its basically cut and shut together as the s14 front section of the tailshaft is 450mm from flange to uni center and this just so happened be the exact length i needed for the RB25 box, so we cut the s14 yoke off and machined up a sleeve with a step on it which was a tight fit for the tubing, knocked it into the shaft and then knocked the yoke onto the sleeve so its all dead straight. then ran a weld around it.

this is pretty much how i did the one in my R32 and also jake jones Sil80. no issues at all and dont worry about balancing since its such a short shaft.

The interior has since been resprayed bronze, this happened when the cage went in.

so yesterday i got stuck into doing injectors... had to modify the fuel rail to suit the new Deka 620cc injectors as they are 12mm taller overall. this raises the rail up and nearly fouls the bottom of the top part of the intake manifold.

also some pics of Andrew half way thro the manifold.

Tune time!

http://i51.tinypic.com/2u9u5om.jpg
dyno was eventful thats for sure. had hell issues with missfiring, even tho it has mint coil packs and new plugs. plugs weer 0.7 then gapped to 0.5mm so f**k all... must have a weak spark from a coil pack or something. THEN the f**king gate stuck open... disassembled it and put it back together and yeah... started working ok but turns out the gate spring is only 6psi... so it bluids boost way too slow.

slow boost build. missfires and f**k all boost = 265 rwkw.

pretty slow to come on power but pulls decent.

gonna fix this shit up and then retune it.

retune on wed, wheel alignment on thurs and skids on sat... heres hoping!

coil packs arrived today so i chucked them in, straight away its idling better and dead smooth so this can only be a good thing. I ditched the HKS plugs that were in the engine for some BCPR6ES's gapped to 0.9mm so fingers crossed!

http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/3273/image0827.jpg

final tune done

290 rwkw

car is farking fast hahaha will post more later

dyno went ok... had some issuse with the ebc not holding flat but in the end we tuned around it. Jeff did a few runs and we found that the VCT was causing a massive hole in the map up top... so he moved the change over point to 5000 rpm (stock is 5700) and it picked up a huge gain everywhere, tried going more and even in the other direction and no gains were made. So the larger turbo obviously requires the earlier change over point for its optimal power.

Peak torque is hit at 3800 rpm... nice and early in the power band! some 500 nm of torque available at the wheels right there where you want it.

running 17psi of boost and i honestly think that with 20 psi and a built motor theres still a large amount of room for more power with this set up.

car sounds and goes awesome... dropped the clutch in 1st and it wheel span and then grabbed 2nd and it just hooked up and HAULED. it does feel a little laggy to build boost but i put that to the shitty diff ratio... it has a 3.7 atm and with a 4.3 it will be an animal!!

praccy day run and done.... only lasted 3 laps before issues. IO knew there was going to be heat issues with a high mount turbo so i bought some of that expensive heat sheathing stuff that you slip over your pipes and wiring. not cheap at 60 a meter and what do you know.. it doesnt work too well. The wiring loom for the oxy sensor melted together and shorted out which killed the engine out on the track. lucky was at the start line when it happened. so got back to the pits and sorted out the loom, was worried more was done and thats why it wouldnt start.

once i unplugged the oxy sensor it started. so we thought all was good. repaired the wiring and relocated it well out the way then started it ready to go out again and noticed it was only running on 5 cylns

checked all coil packs first up unplugging them one at a time with the motor running and found number 4 not running. pulled plug and pack out and tested for spark and that was ok... only thing left was fuel and we couldnt test the pulse for injectors at all since no one had a node light. pulled the CAS out with motor off and slowly turned it by hand and counted the injector clicks, only 5 clips per cycle.... hmmmmm

checked wiring loom and went down to the ecu area and and soon as we stuck our head in there could smell that dreaded burnt circuit board smell... pulled it out and opened it up and sure enough.... a burnt transistor and injector driver for number 4 so that put an end to the night

over all happy with the car, just need to fix the binding issues at lock and change the diff ratio and it should be sweet as! Jeff thinks he can repair the ecu so fingers crossed!

manifold is off being modded and also we're getting it ceramic coated.. also wanted to do turbing housing so i took that off and what i found was not pretty turns out something must have gone through it and turbine is damaged... kinda explains the lack of power also... also glad i caught it now rather then have it explode mid thrash!

$765 to fix my turbo getting new turbine wheel and shaft + balancing... really was hoping it wouldnt be so much as cash is tight for supercup coming up.

oh well... dropped manifold and housing off to get ceramic coated today..

got it started up again tonight.... no more leaks! got a new gate spring too... 2 bucks from industrial springs as it was something about the right size in their assortment bin haha

UPDATE

Got rear susp bushes and arms all installed.. getting alignment tomorrow. Noticed that on the hoist that my front left tie rod was unthreading out the rack... wtf.. nigles offset spacer had come undone even tho its loktited and done up fkn tight in there... bloody lucky i caught it in time!

got retune today... turns out straight on the rollers i was making 240 rwkw for G1's level of tune.... errrr shit! prob due to timing being out by 6 degrees due to removal and reinstallation of CAS even tho i marked it and put it back in the same spot... weird.

anyway so ran it up. jeff did some fine tuning and sorted out some area's which i wanted improved and we picked up a shit load more torque and lowdown power. total power was 310 rwkw on 17 psi... safe as houses with a 12:1 AFR.

goes goddamn hard now... so much better then the previous times i have driven it so should be a decent weapon soon once everything is sorted!

STILL HAVE NO BRAKES GGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

helps having mates who are machinists haha a mate of mine did them for me after i discribed what i wanted. He also made that gearknob i posted further up... he'll be doing them to order too. and yes these rise it up nice and flush! As the pics below show

all in all it fits really well... took me 5-6 attempts to get the subframe up onto the studs evenly as it would catch and then not go evenly. the holes in the bushes are 20.5mm and the studs are 20mm so the extra was to allow for slightly offset studs etc. Bushes were machined so they wack in with a block of wood and hammer.. can come out easy enough if need be. If you lok at the pics you'll see some parts come bloody close to fouling but yeah it all seems to clear pretty well

some updates!

I got some clear headlight covers from 2UP Japanese Styling (http://www.2-up.com.au/) and the quality is awesome.. got to work on the old lights getting the lenses off and that was fun thats for sure. put the covers on and they fit perfect. sealed them up and let them set then chucked them on today along with new front bar.

looks a lot better now thats for sure just gotta get some corner lights!

got a new Gate as well as some poncams. will be putting them in and then hitting up winton very soon.

got it tuned and had several issues... the gate is now too small with the cams fitted. cams creating extra exhaust gas flow and now ive lost control of the boost up top..

also the fuel pump that i had, an 040, reached its limits as on the dyno it was leaning out over 6500 no matter.. so limited to 6500 it pulled 330 rwkw and near 600 nm of torque... its an animal!

first battle was with ferds. nailed the first run. he made a mistake which i didnt know about and i made a mistake going too hard on the follow lap. was a re run. then on the lead lap i couldnt downchange from 4th to 3rd as the box wouldnt let at all. tried like 3 times and at that point i was too wide, and went in the mud. knew straight away that i'd lost the whole battle unless ferds stuffed up his lead run. no chance of that but i went hard and stuck as close and possible.. was an awesome run and at a few points it was damn close haha

after the lose i was kinda dejected... but you get that. thats comps for ya. got back into the spirit of things with team drift with robbo and Nathan, and we formulated a plan before hand and it worked out and we nailed two pretty awesome runs... we won the team drift but yeah we shoulda come up with a better name... for the record the name was picked ON the startline about 15 seconds before we left lol.

*** will update with Vimeo vid's a little later ***

bit of an update on the car...

pulled wastegate off and going for something bigger to achieve some boost control again... while i love running 1.4 bar the engine wont last forever at that sort of boost. the aim is to run less peak boost and then retune for either E85 or a BP98+20% methanol mix which will allow more timing and boost in the midrange and hopefully more response. Its not really laggy but i'd love more power in the midrange rather then shedloads up top.

finally got the car handling where i want it... it was a little crap at winton and wouldnt break away at high speeds very easily. had phernominal grip levels and something i wasnt used to... made it hard to enter the first corner properly. I wasnt sure what it was.. cant be the wing as its backed right off. so i figured i'd play with toe sittings some more.

Since everything in my rear end is solid as f**k and i was running 2mm toe in like you would on normal set up on compression it wasnt changing toe to out like it would normally so it provided loads of grip. so i wound the toe out to around 2mm out now.

its changed the car big time now... still grippy as f**k but u can flick it hard at high speeds with total control now... its awesome!

the car will see some cosmetic upgrades down the track.. have some new parts on order but looking at quite a few months away yet. for now i just wanna get it back together and drive. unsure if im doing G1 yet or not.

New gate - Tial 44mm

360 rwkw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fark the car is insane now... running 50/50 mix of fuel and its just nuts. can run an extra 15 degrees timing at full load and the low down torque and response is awesome!

power was made on 16 psi too.. where as before it was running 19-20 psi and made less power.

G1 run and done!

i won a G1 round after many years of competing its an amazing feeling to finally bring home the win!

Massive thanks to Paul SIL-014, Aran, my wife Jenna, AM Performance, Matty T and anyone else who helped out on the day to make it a stress free day... it was awesome to not have any car issues (until the end) and just keep driving.. what was even more awesome was to be able to drive with good mates in the top 8 and top 4 and then the finals.. amazing experiance!

pics and vids coming soon!

now time for a new clutch... victory burnouts did NOT end well hahahaha... went to grab 3rd several times and it just bangs limiter and no wheel spins

BC ER's i got... decent value!

so i dummy fitted all the gear tonight and i got two issues... one is i painted everything up and forgot to weld a lock stopper on the arm LOL so will need to work out a spot and then grind back paint and weld on a stopper.

2nd is my sway bar link... i dont know where i f**ked up but i did.. its on a bad angle and when i move arm towards pos castor it binds and hits. so will have to redo that too.

apart from that it looks like its gonna have MAJOR lock with xero bind.. arm is not straight with the tie rod by a long shot so will be awesome.. took some pics and theres no castor rod fitted as im still waiting on it to be machined.

http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/1870/p9230323.jpg

http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/5435/p9230320.jpg

so im planning on driving tomorrow but yeah lots of work ahead of me.. need to take LCA's out and chop off the link mount i made.. no good. gotta redesign that and also position up a lock stopper for it... then install it and align it

talk about teething issues... got it all back together and trying to align shit and my tie rods are no where near long enough LOL
...
doing a brake upgrade while i wait for new tierod parts to be made up and i removed old calipers and my braided lines have cracked flares... cant reuse them
...
R34 GT T brakes... cheap and effective. rotors are a lot larger and the calipers are MUCH lighter then s14 ones.

got some decent pads too.. doing a time attack day next week!
...
just drove it... f**k me... its awesome! no bump steer no tramlining nothing.. drove on the bumpiest rutted road around my place and it just drives dead straight. turn in is mind mindblowing and the front end feels nice and tight now steering is very percise!

oh and the brakes are awesome too haha

can do a U turn in a tiny street now
fml! the car doesnt fit on the trailer now due to the wheel track!

G1 next weekend.

slight update.. got some new front tyres.. aim to have the bonnet on for g1 and painted up. What are ppls thoughts? paint it red or black? tending to go towards body colour myself.

just doing some maintenance on the old faithful RB... air filter was blocked to shit house hahaha i washed it out in a bucket of soapy water and the water went black with about a cm of sediment at the bottom.. might make some more power now lol.

apart from that.. bout it.. worlds most reliable high powered drift car i reckon lol

...

G1 was yesterday and i took home the top prize AND the series championship...what an awesome result! Car is crazy reliable too!

i look forward to seeing the pics and vids to come

pics kinda speak for themselves... car looks like ass and is pulled apart lol.

motor out to fix a whole heap of stuff... easier to remove to work on it. esp with no rad support now! have made it so its bolt on and removable.

now rocking a near new R34 gearbox.. should be awesome now! no need for a dog box here i dont drive like a knob

Update!

Picked up my car from Garage 7 after getting dec's and the team to do a fuel system in the car to suit E85 and with zero possibilities of issues and this is what it came back with.. twin 044's surge tank. twin feed and hard lines all the way in one piece and bent in all the right places to the engine bay. the Stock fuel rail was modified with two inlet fittings welded on and a single middle return with an Adjustable FPR.

very high quality and pro job... cannot fault it.. only messy looking thing about it is my wiring which i did haha.

Also got AM Performance to modify my cooler piping to suit my new cooler positioning.. pipe work is much shorter now and everythings safer. I was hoping to run AU thermo's but it looks like there will be ZERO room

Update: tune now done and Dec's from garage 7 has done an amazing job. 397.2 rwkw on 19 psi on straight e85 now and safe as a

Just got mine retuned.. stock un opened Neo RB25det. 3076, E85 and twin 044's, 80lb deka injectors, nistune and z32.. about to run out of scale on the afm map too.

result was 397.2 rwkw on 19 psi

http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/2074/p1010570.jpg

...

drift prac run and done... tested the car with its new found power and its pretty amazing to drive! thanks massivly to Decs from Garage 7 for the tune and fuel system work... everything is so awesome now!

tested two different tyres for SA Motorsports tyres, one being a Kenda KR20 and the other a hercules. so was a little off the pace normally as we we're mucking around with pressures and temps. the Kenda's are great tho.. last ages and decent grip. however i found with the power i have now i need something more otherwise im just left feathering thre throttle trying to gri and get forward speed while slower cars can keep it pinned and pull away.

Winton Matsuri: just got home... massive weekend! First up huge props to Vicdrift/yoshi and all the guys running the show for putting it on. was a great format and once it flowed it was simply awesome. I highly recommend that all days you hold should be like this. keep it with no start line and keep it flowing.

secondly massive props to my mates and all the SA guys for helping out and sharing the fun. was great to drive with everyone. had a slighly sour tap in the first session when the red's came on and i was following Nathan Wiesel in the esses fair quick and onto the straight and then this white 32 4 door just hit the brakes and stopped straight away as soon as the lights came on.. nathan had to slam on the skids and i ran up the back of him, please use some common sense and just come to a stop when safe to do so.

the rest of sat was epic.. the arvo sessions flowed well with heaps of drive time and lots of trains.. got mad footage Sat night was loose as f**k. couldnt see shit but yet it was so much fun haha.

sunday kinda sucked with the rain but once that cleared up was good! nice to do away with the searing sun too haha. had a fair large stack when fellow SA driver and non relation craig in the falcon T boned me in the door. shit happens and we both got on with fixing our shit and getting back out there.

kept going til bout 2 ish pm til i smashed a driveshaft snatching 4th thro the esses... suprised they lasted so long with the amount of abuse they have seen lately lol. called it a day after that! Best part was i only used 3 pairs of tyres all weekend! 265 federals FTW!

Cant wait

Update: got my head off atm to hopefully fix cooling issues.. anyway heres some pics of the 25 which is stock bottom end pushing 360+ rwkw... everything looks mint!

http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/8480/p1010963p.jpg

well its time for an update!

Got ARP head studs and a MLS gasket thro Garage 7, Head work was done by Rhemac.. all came up good

And then the car went to All Type Crash for some major repairs after Winton Matsuri... the colision with the falcon left the sil panel and door frame pretty bent. The guys down at all type managed to pull it out and bring it straight again and along with a new door you'd never guess anything happened!

3 drift cars.... awaiting repairs!

Dec's from Garage 7 did a check up tune last night on the dyno since i had pulled the head off and motor apart.. was worth while just making sure all was ok before it gets some more thrashing this weekend.

so as it was.. with the motor thats seen a crazy amount of thrash time and has been reliable as hell.. and overheated a few times recently. it still makes crazy power. in fact its up 10 rwkw since last time lol. Dec's pulled 2 degrees of timing out and dropped the boost half a psi and all was sweet. I would run 20 psi but the AFM maxxes out right about then

With no temp correction it makes 405 rwkw and with temp probe and actual power output its 367 rwkw. but the best part about it is the fact that at 4000 rpm it makes 180 rwkw. more then most street cars lol

***UPDATE***
car survived DSC... even running 2.5 bar boost at the end full story coming soon.

Won the event... f**king stoked! so happy with my car set up atm... so fun to drive and so rewarding.

had drift prac last night...borrowed one of pauls coilovers, cheers mate!, so was running different coils left and right lol, car felt amazing with the new diff/ratio + 17 inch tyres... had heaps of grip and speed. was brilliant to drive! had a few close tandems and near misses. however dec's in the Garage 7 missle was chasing me on one lap and rubbed thro brake lines and tagged me in the rear 1/4... keep going cause it didnt seem so bad. then in another session i was chasing him down and then he looped suddenly on turn 2 and i had no where to go and we collided.. in the same panel! only a tad worse now lol

4.11 from 32 gtr

when tyres were fresh i had heaps of drive out of corners.. later sessions chasing you i strugged with grip a bit and wasnt able to keep close.

pretty chuffed i did the whole prac night on one pair of tyres tho lol

yeah go pro fails for sound... gheeey

as for toe out.. most people are afraid to try anything more then 4-5mm toe out... should give it a crack and try 10. not only does it give you a lil bit more lock but it feels awesome and makes for snappy flicks. on the garage 7 R32 (the one with black bootlid, wite car) i set up the alignment on it and its running 20mm front toe out LOL.. its fairly twitchy but once your used to it pretty epic.

as for rear toe i alternate between out and in. depending on the track. i run out on the rear if i wanna do backwards entries all the time haha

It isnt low at all lol i kinda like it like that tho cause the susp works well at the current height, plus its already a hassle to load/unload on trailer.

About to leave for SYDNEY!

Tow car and S14 are still about 800km away from Sydney, here's hoping we all get there early enough!

If you're at WTAC this weekend, please feel free to come up and say hello

...

The motor was a stocker... what basically happened was a pushlock hose and fitting failed and hose tore off from the fitting on the oil cooler on my very first run out which caused a loss of oil and pressure. as soon as i noticed i shut it straight down and rolled back to the pits. My crew managed to repair the hose, refit and clamp it on, i filled the oil back up and then started it.. had oil pressure straight away and so i went back out. got 7 more laps in, most of them shocking due to the fact i was struggling with set up... had waaaaay too much grip and so a lot of straightens. Not to mention the fact i had zero experiance at EC and it was dark with shitty visability. not the best

Anyway on the 7th lap i decided to pit and change set up before i did my 2nd qualifyer run. we changed the rear toe and made some susp alignments... i went to go back out and it just started rattling like crazy... defo spun bearings

so that was that.. game over sadly

http://www.speedshots.com.au/gallery/160373-1/20110806_wtac_SS1_1911.jpg

pulling motor out tomorrow. will pull bearings out and suss damage to them. if the cranks f**ked i'll ditch it and get another motor. if not. then i'll measure tolerances and put new bearings in and some ARP rod bolts thro it.

well motor is out.. and the bearings are f**ked! lol

from WTAC to stripped in 2 days... not bad if i say myself considering i work a full time job inbetween lol

number 2 spun.. and a result the crank is every so slightly under the tolerance. from mem tolerance was 49.9xx - 49.985 and it measured in at 49.8xx so will regrind and fit ACL race bearings and mains

http://www.dorifutoo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/IMG_3673.jpg

update!!

motor re assembled by myself.. bearing clearances checked. everything all good. and motor back in the car. started it up tonight after priming it up for oil pressure and it fired first go and sounded great! got it up to temp and it seems to have slightly more oil pressure then before and rev's and idles smoother then ever.

skid performed

Our good mate Adam Phan or Holeshot Photography as he is usually known by is a design student who really wanted to do some work on the car. Following months of designs we finally get it on the car!

heres the start to finish.

a rough sketch adam did 4 months ago... we sat and discussed for a while.

Taking the car to Tailem Bend Motorsport Park tomorrow for the 2nd round of Stadium Drift SA. The track used to be the old Mitsubishi test track, so its not too special but has the ability to modify the track layout more.

Here is the layout for tomorrow

http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/8383/stadiumdriftlayouttb.jpg

Getting some 4 metre long ramps made up so i don't have issues getting the car on and off the trailer, here's hoping it works!

Will be loading the car up tonight for the 1.5 hour drive ... and leaving at 6.30am :(

yeah the bar is certainly higher then the rest of the kit... and its not the bar's fault its just that the s14 is higher at the front body wise compared to a 180sx. will be changing the bar soon to something different.

Just curious, what upgrades did you do to the engine before you tossed it in? Did you upgrade timing belt, HG and water/oil pumps to N1s?

SMDrift
09-06-2011, 12:33 AM
when i first put it in the car over 18months ago it was stock with a new timing belt and a new water pump. everything else was bolt on mods.

i have since done ARP head bolts, MLS head gasket, and then more recently the bottom end got a quick freshen with new GTR rods (Neo RB25's have rb26 rods standard anyway) resized with ARP bolts, new crank, ACL race bearings and a crank collar welded on. still using the OEM oil pump.

Track_Battle_Intro (http://www.trackbattle.com.au/) This is the new national series for Australia starting in Melbourne in 1.5 weeks. This means a 10 hour drive towing the drift car with crew also! Will be a long drive but so so worth it, we're actually using part of the thunderdome to drift on which will be interesting.

my car was faultless and performed brilliantly all weekend only issue i had was a bend tie rod and castor rod bracket being out of wack after a hard hit when tom monkhouse spun in front of me. steering wasnt the same afterwards but being the drifter i am i made do with what i had. was running some crazy toe out at the end... something like 30mm out. flicks in HARD hahaha.
