 considering purchasing a 95-98 240sx se, was hoping to get some likes-dislikes, good qualities, disappointments, common problems, etc. also, what you think is the best sounding exhaust for the naturally aspirated 240's?
if its 95-98 then you would be considering on purchasing a s14

there is no s15 in the USA
use the search mode, all that info is in there for exhaust and s14 pros and cons.

Yeah that would be an S14, maybe you are thinking Kouki S14. I also heard that there might be some companies importing S15's also, well we will just see, but I am happy with my old gal :bigok:

I wonder how much of a markup they will be, I think if it's around
the 20K range than it's worth it, hell maybe even 30.

I really don't think a S15 is worth that much.

actually u can pretty walk out the door with a g35 with 30k.
I would still get the s15 just cuz its rare and its turboed. G35s are everywhere now. S15 would be a better head turner...I wouldnt get an R32 because its almost 10 years older than an s15.

i dunno about you guys, but with 30k i would probably put a down payment on a house, i mean if i had that kind of cash on hand from where u guys get that from, must be selling some good drugs, or have a good job, but i dont see the point of buying a brand new car, it loses value as soon as u drive it off the lot. pointless to me, but hey to each there own

very much agreed silvia, i mean i dont live at home, but i would like to have my own house. it isnt like u can just live in your car, i know some people on the board have to still live at home. doesnt that suck when ur trying to get laid? :P

I am with you too Ed, I think it is annoying living at home, I am only 18 and I will be off to school soon. I would like to do a lot more with 30K than buy a car....I would love to buy a car, but I could pay off school (well most of it) or put a downpayment on something. Its just hard to blow that much! Wish I had thier jobs haha

If it was 20K I'll definitely get one, yeah most modded s14 probably will hand me my ass but the s15 is just so nice! Everytime I see the rear flare, I fall in love. But to each his own, I know what it means to be a broke ass college student since I'm just transitioning to a working environment now.

J's Garage imports s15's they are usually around 23k.

I'm in agreement, for 30 grand, I would put money down on a house and buy an S14... I can't think of any reason to want to have a $30,000 car sitting outside of my mother's house. Hell, outside of an apartment either, for that matter... I see it this way: 30 grand cash: 15 grand will go down on the house, 5 will buy furniture/appliances and such... The remaining 10 will buy a 95-96 S14, which I would then turn and mod the very DOORS off of. I would probably still have about 1-2 grand left to throw one hell of a house warming party... The novelty of having the look of an S15 just isn't that much of a deciding factor to me.

if you guys want a legal s15 talk to these guys www.zerolift.com they are in cincinnati ohio and they have a s15 come in i think this week. i believe they want 15,000 for the car and 6,000 to legalize it, so your looking at 21,000. i don't think that is a bad price at all. they can get pretty much any car you want.

on topic 4 s14
pros : fun to drive, semi reliable, looks nice, rare, fr, good cornering.
cons : fr (if u cant drive rwd, ur going to find out fast and probably expensively), bad acceleration, things break all the time, bad gas mileage, loud interior noise, rattly frame.
depends on what ur getting the car for. over all, if i had to do it all over again, i think i would've bought a different car. then i would've saved a bit afterwards and bought the 240 as a weekend driver. its fun on nice days on twisty roads, but it sucks ass in traffic going to work at 7 in the morning. the car is quite loud inside and out with the stock muffler. if you get an aftermarket catback (like me) expect to have alot of headaches. the noise on the inside is 50x louder then what it is on the outside. feels like someone is buzzing the back of my head 24/7. not really enjoyable or worth it imo. power gains are negligable and anyone who is going to notice ur car (ooh a 240sx! he must be a jdm tyte drifterZ!) will have noticed it already.
as for common problems, i think this quote off sileighty mania sums it up best:
"ka24(d)e thin body parts that dent so easily faded windshield wiper switch cigarette lighter that pops out power windows that stop working odometer that gets stuck leaky bushings uneven camber rear defroster that doesnt work clunky steering overheating blown speakers faded seatbelts faded temperature control automatic seatbelts great interior fabric schemes shitty brakes great way of changing headlight bulbs trunk fabric walls that break off dropping a strut bar nut in the rear brake lights burn out leaky injectors leaky windows strange creaking noises awesome moonroof brittle interior cloth leaky injectors spot on the armrest that rubs away power antenna not working nasty shift boot that falls apart people capacity: 2 people and a midget with no legs wonderful black tape that wraps around the body no cup holders bad timing chain guides driver's side rear lean siezed transmission drain/filler plugs"

True...buying a house would be nice, but I rather have a garaged townhouse. Either way...if I had 30K to fork over for a G35...of course I would have my own place already. I'm not into having a head turner or a car with mad cool factor. Greddy twin turbo kit with NISMO aero pieces would look nice on my dream G35 Coupe. :p
I'm really off topic and I can't think of anything to say to the original poster.

totally off topic as well but:
i would opt for a townhouse too. around here they seem to be the wave of the future in terms of housing. i see less and less houses being built and more more townhouses. they are good to own and rent out too, the rent practically pays off the mortgage.
s15 for 20k? no thanks. cuz i'd look at it and be like aww its so pretty. then i wouldn't drive it hard or anything. no track no drift. and that's just a waste of a car lol.
95kouki u changed ur icon ... it looks so weird now. i got really used to seeing that asian girl.

BACK ON TOPIC:
The only dislikes I have with my S14 are those damn squeak and rattles. Does lubricating your pillow mounts help in anyway?

i call bullshit, its not 100% legal, you might have the ohio dmv "think" its legal but drive it out to cali for the real legality test.
itll fail 100%
