No cable in my apartment, dont feel like paying the rediculous prices so I just stream netflix via my ps3.

Ive watched so much shit I wouldnt have before.

Ive rewatched every LOST episode
Heros
Eureka
Reno 911
The Office
Scrubs

Along with alot of independant films, last night I actually watched a movie called Splinterheads which i thought was pretty funny.

I just have one gripe about it, they will have the comedy section, then you scroll down to lets say drama, and they have the same movies listed there too...lol I know lost of movies can fall under multiple categories but it just grinds my gears ha. I think a better search engine for ps3 is needed.

Don't have much time to watch TV, but when I do, it's most often TGUK. Otherwise random movies. Wish their selection of Hollywood movies was better. I've sampled a few anime, and have been uninterested with the few I tried. I did watch all the episodes of the Demetri Martin show that they had.

I started watching Lost with my wife, but went on a mission, came back and she was on the last episode. Talk about confusing as fuck lol

It's good man. It's like a prequel to the first one. It teaches how the character in the first movie recieved the badass fighting skills that were passed down in his village for centuries. It is brutal, man.

I liked the Ong Bak series because sometimes movie makers act like the only ppl that are good at martial arts are Chinese and Japanese ppl. Ong Bak's Thai perspective & surprisingly high production value was a refreshing change up to me.

The genre gets monotonous sometimes. Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen, I'm looking at you... Totally underwhelming effort from Donnie Yen. SMH.

Netflix Apology Email

I messed up. I owe you an explanation.

It is clear from the feedback over the past two months that many members felt we lacked respect and humility in the way we announced the separation of DVD and streaming and the price changes. That was certainly not our intent, and I offer my sincere apology. Let me explain what we are doing.

For the past five years, my greatest fear at Netflix has been that we wouldn't make the leap from success in DVDs to success in streaming. Most companies that are great at something – like AOL dialup or Borders bookstores – do not become great at new things people want (streaming for us). So we moved quickly into streaming, but I should have personally given you a full explanation of why we are splitting the services and thereby increasing prices. It wouldn’t have changed the price increase, but it would have been the right thing to do.

So here is what we are doing and why.

Many members love our DVD service, as I do, because nearly every movie ever made is published on DVD. DVD is a great option for those who want the huge and comprehensive selection of movies.

I also love our streaming service because it is integrated into my TV, and I can watch anytime I want. The benefits of our streaming service are really quite different from the benefits of DVD by mail. We need to focus on rapid improvement as streaming technology and the market evolves, without maintaining compatibility with our DVD by mail service.

So we realized that streaming and DVD by mail are really becoming two different businesses, with very different cost structures, that need to be marketed differently, and we need to let each grow and operate independently.

It’s hard to write this after over 10 years of mailing DVDs with pride, but we think it is necessary: In a few weeks, we will rename our DVD by mail service to “Qwikster”. We chose the name Qwikster because it refers to quick delivery. We will keep the name “Netflix” for streaming.

Qwikster will be the same website and DVD service that everyone is used to. It is just a new name, and DVD members will go to qwikster.com to access their DVD queues and choose movies. One improvement we will make at launch is to add a video games upgrade option, similar to our upgrade option for Blu-ray, for those who want to rent Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 games. Members have been asking for video games for many years, but now that DVD by mail has its own team, we are finally getting it done. Other improvements will follow. A negative of the renaming and separation is that the Qwikster.com and Netflix.com websites will not be integrated.

There are no pricing changes (we’re done with that!). If you subscribe to both services you will have two entries on your credit card statement, one for Qwikster and one for Netflix. The total will be the same as your current charges. We will let you know in a few weeks when the Qwikster.com website is up and ready.

For me the Netflix red envelope has always been a source of joy. The new envelope is still that lovely red, but now it will have a Qwikster logo. I know that logo will grow on me over time, but still, it is hard. I imagine it will be similar for many of you.

I want to acknowledge and thank you for sticking with us, and to apologize again to those members, both current and former, who felt we treated them thoughtlessly.

Both the Qwikster and Netflix teams will work hard to regain your trust. We know it will not be overnight. Actions speak louder than words. But words help people to understand actions.

Respectfully yours,

-Reed Hastings, Co-Founder and CEO, Netflix

^^^Oh. Soooo basically, we're sorry of shitting on all of you but we're still not really changing anything. HOWEVER, we'll let you start renting video games soon!*

*(probably with another additional fee...)

Fuck off, Netflix. This just made me even madder actually. Really looking into Hulu Plus to accompany my Vudu HD.

I heard a few days ago Netflix was bought out, new owner and in a month or so they will also start providing the option to have video games by mail.

Daniel.

I don't see this split as a good thing for consumers. The current setup is a nice sweet spot for us. We can stream tons of content for a reasonable price. The library is somewhat limited, but what isn't available via streaming can be gotten on DVD (again, for a reasonable price).

However, splitting up the companies is probably only a first step. I presume Netflix intends to eventually sell the DVD business. This makes sense for the company, because at this point, the DVD business can really go no where but down as streaming takes over. Selling the DVD business will bring in a bunch of cash, and Netflix can use that cash to increase its streaming catalog, build infrastructure, whatever. But the reason that streaming has so few recent hollywood movies is because studios want so much money for the rights. So in order to offer those expensive options, they will have to charge more money than they currently do. They don't have to do that at the moment, because users can see those movies on DVD if they want, and the studios charge less for that privilege. Users probably consume content at a slower rate via DVD than streaming, since there is the whole shipping time issue. I'm willing to bet that within a few years, Netflix streaming will cost more like $30-40 per month, intended to be a replacement to cable.

Also, currently, tons of TV shows are available to stream, commercial free. To TV studios, right now that is just an additional revenue stream. But as more and more consumers stop watching regular broadcast/cable TV, the studios will see their ad revenue decrease, and they are going to start charging more money for the right to stream tv shows to make up for that lost revenue.

Even if you don't like Sci-Fi I highly recommend watching Battlestar Galactica. Excellent show that is more of a drama than about science fiction. Trust me most of you would like it. I used to be on Netflix non stop but now I'v sort of run out of things to watch till they get some new contracts.

If anyone is into documentories, I highly recommend "Beer Wars". Even though it portays my profession as the devil incarnate and it has "down with big corporation" slant. It is an eye opening look at how the beer industry operates and how advertising sways your brew of choice.
If you're even remotely passionate about beer, I encourage you to watch it.

There are no SciFi Fans in here? I just watched 5 seasons of Dr. Who. BBC show. Its not half bad.

I also watched all 12 seasons of Stargate SG1, SGU, Stargate Atlantis and All of the new Battlestar Galactica.

Any new Scifi shows coming with space travel and/or time travel?

They just dont make em like they used to.

i realize this is a bit old, but i tried out dr. who, and i couldn't do more than a couple episodes. but i did notice that there were a bunch of different casts of dr. who, because according to wiki, it's been a show since the early 60's.

anyhow, i'm not huge on scifi stuff, but i watched a BBC show called Being Human. a ghost, werewolf and vampire all live in a little house together. only like 2 or 3 seasons IIRC, but it was kind of interesting.

30 rock is a good one.

I get it for free and there is no way I would pay $8 for this many commercials. There is a ton of stuff that doesn't even stream mobile/set-top.
Navigation is still crap. Netflix has slowly improved this.
Menu's and stream loading is slow as balls.

I get gift cards for work I do. I have been thinking about a prime account. I just need to change my buying habits for it to pay off.

30days after DVD release is not old. I do like that they are starting to add the weird and obscure. Some stuff I haven't seen in a decade.

Hulu pissed me off again last night. My queue was filled with web-only. Like why show me that shit if I can watch it on the device? Also, watching multiple episodes in a series loads up a page in the background for each one. Nothing like having to hit back 13 times. Now I know why the home button is there...

I tried Dexter, but couldn't go further than the 2nd season. I have the attention span of a gnat, and get bored easily with most long, drawn-out shows. Breaking bad was too slow, I don't get into zombie shows, etc.

I like stuff like Dr. Who, Merlin, etc. Party Down is a funny show, along with the League, New girl, etc.

Wilfred
Wilfred has been amazing. Hopefully the final season will not be a letdown. I feel that most people do not give it a chance because at first glance it is just just some B-rate comedy show trying to get cheap laughs out of a guy in a dog costume while leeching off the star power of Elijah Wood, but the backstory is fantastic, especially as more and more bits about Wilfred's and Ryan's past keep coming out throughout the series. Easily one of my top five shows of all time.

A few British shows I enjoyed on Netflix:
An Idiot Abroad
Peep Show
Blackadder
IT Crowd
The Inbetweeners (more of a high school show, I watched it years ago, but it is hilarious)

I've hear Snowpiercer is supposed to be really good. Just haven't gotten around to watching it.

The ESPN 30 for 30 documentaries are great.
Even the ones on subjects and sports I have little interest on.
Recently watched "No Mas" on the Duran vs Sugar Ray controversial 1980 fight.

Watched it a few nights ago, it's pretty good, never got boring.
Im currently watching Peaky Blinders, it's alright, no Sopranos or Boardwalk Empire good but it's alright.
I have also watched a few good war movies on there (my favorite kind of movies), recently Saints and Soldiers (2003 one, newer one is also good) and it was pretty good.
Dont know if it's been mentioned or even if it's still on netflix, but the series Jericho is really good.

Yeah I watched it last night. Very entertaining. Interesting ending, but very brutal and thought provoking imo. For free on Netflix I'd say it's a must see.
