View Full Version : Z32 mafs same as a Maxima

went to the junkyard today and found a maxima with a vg30de. i looked at the mafs and it was pretty big, i was just wondering if its the same as the z32. from pics ive seen they look identical. can anyone confirm this? thanks

the motor that you said was a vg30de a 300zx was a veg30de or a veg30dett for a twin turbo maybe u missed a letter. but then you have to look at the motor mounts placements and dipstick placements ect. i hope this was some help...

no, it needs to say n62 on the serial number.

z32 reads airflow differently than other mafs

what if u changed the computer was also changed. would that alow it to work right....

If you change the computer, you effect a hell of a lot more than the MAFS.

thats weird i've never heard of a VEG engine.

i thought i was the only one haha. ive never heard of a veg, and neither has google. maybe its some canadian thing? haha

yeah cause on our 300zx the plate against the firewall says VG30DETT

Oh Jesus guys! Maximas never came with VG30DE engines (the 80's style had a vg30e however). The engine you speak of is a VE or VQ something... not the same. According to the Apex SAFC instructions, the VQ does not share the same mafs as the VG in the Z32... (they have different signal inputs)

They are not the same MAFS, but I'm sure the Maxima one can be made to work with a SAFC and some patience.

The Maxima MAFS looks exactly the same as Z32 MAFS, however the last 3 digit of the serial number is different. Z32 MAFS reads N62 !!!

Some people try to sell Maxima MAFS as Z32 MAFS on ebay, beware of these sellers. Make sure you ask them for pictures of the serial number!

On a side note, can't you use the maxima MAFS just like a you would a Z32 MAFS with the help of a SAFC? Or is the wiring different/not compatible. Anyone know? Might be easier for people to just use the maxima mafs... :confused:
