I been recently looking around on ebay with their car auctions. Well I'm possibly starting a 4th project and I saw all the cars on ebay to be quite cheap. Of course its a auction and usually the prices go way higher. There is one question though... is it wise to buy a car from ebay, a internet auction site that doesn't give me access to test drive or even see the car in person.
Anyone bought a car on ebay? Is it a good and safe way?

Ummm... it's a good place to sell a car probably. I think it's just the same as buying a $5000 collectable on eBay. You can be totally suckered by a dishonest seller. I wouldn't do it, and I've spent $1000s upon $1000s on eBay!!

Uhm, drag racing is a crime. I mean, at least under NJ Law it is. I could look up the statute number if you would like.
As for buying a car on eBay, that's how I got my '93 240 convertible. The car itself was in decent shape, at least according to my mechanic and a local Nissan dealership. I, however, hated it. The biggest problem with an eBay'd car is that you can't test drive it. Other than that, I'm not too afraid of quality.
Worst case scenerio: re-eBay it. =)
ps: I looked up the statute. http://www.zilvia.net/forum/topic.cgi?forum=1&topic=2485

Ugh...#### streetracing.org. Cops harrassing you for no reason other than your car is modified is one thing, but getting harrassed for drag racing is another. Take it to the track. Anyway, I figured if the car's close enough to you or you have a trusted friend that can check out the car for you, then it's fine. Make sure you take a good look at the guy's rating on eBay just in case that seller's pulled off some shady things before.
BTW, would you have been better off getting a Lan Evo VII in the US down the line and just swap various JDM-spec parts (i.e. Recaro seats) to it instead? It's less hassle, it's left hand drive, and it's LEGAL. I don't know if you're just doing childish bragging for something you don't really have or you're for real.

No no, he has it, and a ferrari. He is rich. I have met him before.... online anyways. He does drop a lot of that kind of inuendo. You just get used to it.

Maybe he wants to build a left-hand drive Silvia, so he's just picking something to work with. I mean, he obviously has the money to build a nice one.

I bought my '89 Coupe off of ebay without test driving or anything. I even flew from Denver to St Louis to get it. I think it's probably hit and miss but you can do things to assure you don't get screwed. Such as asking many questions about the condition of the car and getting pics that detail any problems, agreeing that you'll only buy the car is it's in the same condition as it was presented and only paying a deposit until you've seen and driven the car. It isn't full proof but I'm sure it will weed out some of the cons.

I wouldn't waist my money on an Evo, I'd get a WRX STI, looks better and it's not as Ugly. But who am I? As for the Topic, I bought my last two Cars on the Internet, but, I test drove them both before I agreed to pay anything.
