Hey guys i just tried to put in my hud display (without hud, just the cluster) i turned the car on and the mph didnt show up i was wondering if any of you know what could be wrong, the speed display has 2 black looking burn marks on the right hand side of the glass part i was thinking maybe this could be the problem thanks, also the gas meter didnt go up at all and i dont think the tach works, it didnt light up with the lights on, but i cant start the car to see if it goes up to do to engine problems.

no those "burn" marks are supposed to be there. the problem is a capacitor that you need to remove and replace. i attempted this, and found it near impossible. so i just bought one new from nissan. works great now.

are you putting this in a fastback? if so, do you have the cluster harness? more info.

Did you buy an 89-90 cluster? If you aren't sure check the tach for redline and compare it to your old one.

Another problem might be that it doesn't work like most other digital clusters. Not sure what usually doesn't work though, mine works great :D

i swapped my analog off my fastback for the HUD cluster and it was working fine. are you talking about the tach and gas meter not fully lighting up? cause mine doesn't light up all the way but its functional though.

does it matter anymore whether the HUD cluster is from 89-90 or 91+?

b/c DMC has an 89 fastback, and we went and pulled the HUD and HUD subharness out of a 92 coupe.

as he stated everything plugged up and seemed to fit perfect. it just doesnt work.

Wiring is different.

yup, you need SOHC cluster.

The only thing you could swap is a CA18 cluster (well at least the tach, never tried the whole thing).
