Damn. I'm surprised he survived that to say the least. That looks like he hit the pole dead on the driver's side. I hope this dude recovers so he can tell us the story.

I don't feel one bit sorry for this dude, read this: Man hurt in wreck charged with drunken driving - News (http://lancasteronline.com/article/local/395604_Man-hurt-in-wreck-charged-with-drunken-driving.html#ixzz1NQw4Qo4j)

this is actually my buddy. the news had the story completely wrong making tyler look like he was in the wrong. the actual story was that his welded diff had locked up throwing him across the lane and into the pole. this guy has a wife and 2 kids at home. he doesnt street drift let alone drift at all. Its a shame his car was totaled but thankfully he knew who to call with parts. I pretty much bought everything salvagable off the car. Hood, bumpers,sr swap,etc....

I dont know how the news got it wrong, having a welded diff on a street car and you say he doesn't drift? Now I really don't feel sorry for the guy, go buy a fucking differential they make em for a reason. And how did the news make up the part of him being charged with DUI?

Hope hes ok, but if he had a welded diff and apparently didnt drift.. what other reason would you have one ? For daily driving welded diffs SUCK and very very dangerous on the road because there always is that chance that the weld will break.

Hope he gets better though.

Even if you don't drift, a welded would do wonders for straight line performance.

Meh, don't really care to get into the discussion, still the fact remains jackass was driving the car while under the influence:down:

I also saw this article because it was in my local paper. I was wondering where the parts went. I guess they all went to jbretz. What about the wheels? They looked like elites.

The answer to this question will tell us if he was driving like a jackass or not.

What was the speed limit on that street?

yeah, your take off time is way better. The oldschool hotrod guy that did mine referred to it as a "Locker". Its pretty common on the old drag hot rods i guess.

welded or a 2way, a locked diff is still locked up no matter the price paid, and will react the same.

and yes, the DUI part of this is the whole point.
At least it was a cheaper lesson as it goes.
no one but himself injured and no brain damage.

Didnt we have a member here die a couple years ago from some drunk taking a blue car off the edge of a mountain or some shit?

to answer the question is the speed limit is 35 on that strip of the accident if im not mistaken. and the dui charge is getting dropped because he was way under the legal limit. I was with him the whole night and he only had 2 beers at the beginning of the night.

i wonder how fast he was going, i just dont see an accident of that proportion happening at 35MPH.

EsChassisLove

He was going at least 55.

" the actual story was that his welded diff had locked up throwing him across the lane and into the pole."

a welded is ALWAYS locked, you weld your diff so you are ALWAYS locked.
im not going to make anymore comment. im glad no one else was hurt and thats cool that your buddy lived. hope he LEARNED a lesson.

I bought the car with a welded diff. I was looking forward to replacing it when I could.I understand why people can get bent out of shape about my accident but please let me tell you it was not my intention to wrap my car around a pole, I loved that car and consider myself to be a very safe and respecting driver . I can't tell you guys how the accident happened for sure as because I didn't wake up for two days after it happend. Either way sorry to who ever my accident offended but there's nothing I can do about it now.

I lost my car, broke my hip and have some nerve damage in my leg . I have a new appreciation for life and do consider myself to be very lucky. I'm using the down time to get my new build under way . Thanks to jbretz for getting the parts from me and he's got a pretty awesome car in the works.
