I was told that there was limited number of Hicas models sent to the US. I am wondering if that is true and if so does anyone know what that number is.
Thanks

do you have HICAS?
I had a 92 S13, from Canada. . (I didn't know it was Canada when I bought it cause I didn't know enough about 240s back then. . . ) been a nissan fan for years. . I learned to drive on a Stanza
Then uhm. . traded the S13 for an S14 later on. . feels the same, but doesn't handle nearly as well.
Super HICAS IS awesome, you'll hear lots of people badmouthing it. But, it's a complete system. . not just rear wheel steering. . stock tire size was 205 instead of 195, had stiffer springs, thicker sway bars, VLSD, and tigher ratio front steering. All added up. . you get .95 g on the skidpad, stock. compare with .88 on a normal S13.
I'd kill for my S14 to handle as well as my stock S13 :D
edit: but the downside to it, while it's a pretty simple system and easy to diagnose. . . it HAS to be alligned at a Nissan dealership. . and it costs 80 - 85 bucks. .
Inconvenience for me, cause my local dealership is ass. . so I had to drive 75 miles south to just south of Indianapolis

See? people that have Hicas tend to love it :D
Everyone else thinks it's shit.
I really wish the S14 had it. . or that my S13 hadn't have died. . (being from Canada, it had a LOT of bad winters I guess. . LOTS of rust)
Only S14 to have it, just for the new guy .. was the Silvia. 200sx and 240sx, of course. . didn't have it :(

Ya my s13 has hicas. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet because my car has a bad tranny. I should be picking up my clip tomorrow and after we install it I will be able to comment on the system.
Why do so many people hate it?

people complain that it is unpredictable.

Sounds like they don't know their car well enough.
Any other complaints?

and they say it's twitchy. . and that you can't "drift" with it. .
I could hold my car sideways for awhile, with no ill effects. (not that I'm a professional drifter)
The best word I can use to describe it, is seamless.

I have Hicas as well, its ok. Not that big of a deal. It doesn't hurt you any when drifting and if you know your car like you said its not a problem.

as for the number of hicas models made...
its on the same lines as how many licks does it take to the center of a tootsie pop... the world may never know!:D

Ah so there isn't a limited number, but the people who have them are lucky.
By the way yours is beautiful. I love the pic of it.

thanks, its good to see someone that appreciates the ole' 240. (cough, cough) shes looks good, but shes too slow. i rode in a sr powered sentra, so that what i have my eyes on now.(a sr that is)good luck with your car, take a little advice, time is the key... but money doesn't hurt either;)
can you swap in the vlsd off of HICAS systems onto open diff? with the shaft and mounts of course.
I have a HICAS s13. I cant stand it. Nothing beneficial that it does that a good driver connot. All its good for is leaking PS lines and additonal weight.
CO S13, where you from in CO? Im in Greenwood Village. Also, what clip are you installing?

VLSD should fit. .never heard of it done, but it should fit the BEST of any.
Has cooling fins on the cover as well.
But it'd be much much much easier to find even an S14 or J30.

I live in Lakewood and I bought an s13 black top. I don't think I've seen you before. Do you go to any meets or hamburger stand? You shouldn't have seen my 240 any where, but it looks just like yours.

I really miss my s13 sometimes
Wish I could have kept it along with my S14. . it was so beat tho :(
I'd love to have both an S13 and S14. . btw I'm just ranting :D

I love my HICAS. I wouldn't get rid of it if someone paid me. Just can't lower the car too much unless you have a way of keeping all of the stock camber and toe settings (that will make HICAS very twitchy...I am speaking from experience) I have all that solved though)
Mark- have you tracked the 240 w/ HICAS yet? That is what sold me. I made a lot of mistakes and HICAS remedied all of them and it worked seamlessly as stated before

I like having hicas becasue in most cases it is a lot of fun and is awesome auto-X but drifting isnt very good wiit it.

It's true. People that own HICAS actually like it. :o
all I can say is, the system works. . #s don't lie. . HICAS equipped cars, in stock form, will do .95g on the skidpad, whereas non hicas cars (S13-S15 is what I'm thinking of) do .88g (which isn't so bad, but my S13 handled a LOT better than my S14)
