So I ran into a strip of tire debris and it dented my fender. Truckers call these pieces "gatorbacks" I call them ginormous pieces of shit. Anyway, it seems that paintless dent repair has come a long way because the dent on my car was pretty big and the guy was still able to fix it. Here are the pics:

One of my best friends does this, it's an incredible skill to say the least. I came out of a Wegmans once with a cart in my side (black s14) and he was able to hide the entire dent...I was beyond thankful.

Im a body guy and we do this all the time at the college... sometimes we use suction cups, other times we use our special tools and literally just pop out the dent. easy as that, really.

That's the first thing I did when I got my car. Removed all the dings and dents. I had to hunt down the best guy in town and it wasn't easy cuz he was out of town all the time chasng after hail storms. Anyway, I spent about $500 and it was totally worth it. I'm talking about several dings and dents all around the car and some of them were in in hard to reach spot. You know when someone is that good, he's an artist, not a body shop/repair guy. I have high respect on good PDR guys. They are like magicians.

You make it sound like it takes no skill! some of the pdr guys work thru small drilled holes , tapping and working metal like a fine art. The dent on my car took the guy 2 hours, def did not look easy as that.

Some can, but you risk leaving a crease if doing by hand sometimes...ask me how I know :(

my brother does this. Is sooooo dope to watch.
Uses a L shaped rod. At the base of the L , the tip caresses out the dent. For a job interview he put a dent in his brand new FJ, popped it out in 2 min. He's pretty fucking sick.
Seen him do crazy shit. Like super long drill bit ran through the side of the door. He knows where all the beams and wiring is. I guess each manufacture uses a different thickness for their metal panels. He always said Mercedes was the worst.

Well he is a body guy so to him it may be easy.
Yeah these guys are awesome, when I worked at the chevy dealer in northern Cali, this guy Ian was awesome, his company is called "dent pro" incase any of you are from the east bay area and want this done. I remember the second day I owned my new scion tc, my wife decided it would be cool to swing her door open and hit a lamp post, we were getting out at the movies, the corner of the door folded in about 10" from the top down, I was horrified, went to work and Ian had it fixed in a couple of hours, it looked brand new like nothing ever happened.

pushing a dent out does not always work. it can leave a crown effect after. as they say in the autobody world when i used to do it. First in , last out....meaning you have to use a rubber body mallet to shrink the crown in before you can even attempt the push out the dent. metal actually does stretch and by doing it this way and even heat treating it you can shrink the metal back in without leaving waves or pinch edges. seems easy but takes a while to master .
