It's possible you were just kidding, I guess, but...

NJ Statute 39:4-52 / Racing prohibited

No person shall operate a motor vehicle upon a public highway for a wager or in a race or for the purpose of making a speed record.

A person who violates this section shall be fined not less than twenty-five nor more than one hundred dollars for the first offense, and, for a subsequent offense, not less than one hundred nor more than two hundred dollars.

---

"Public highways" means public roads, streets, expressways, freeways, parkways, motorways and boulevards, including bridges, tunnels, overpasses, underpasses, interchanges, rest areas, express bus roadways, bus pullouts and turnarounds, park-ride facilities, traffic circles, grade separations... (it goes on and on)

Good lord let it go! Right under that he wrote that just becuase he has a souped up car doesn't mean you can arrest him.

This whole street racing thing is ridiculous in it's scope... especially considering street racing itself is as old as cars. LEt this stuff go sometimes!

also, remember that it said DRAG racing is not a crime, that probably means he does it on the strip.

I just copied and pasted. It's only wordy because that's how it's written in the books. And good call about the fact I didn't even consider if he meant on a track.

Oh well, I just remember having looked up the law before. I had wanted to see if driving a particular speed for the purpose of a game (if the speed was otherwise legal) was punishable or not, and I stumbled upon that one.

Oh, and one more thing I forgot: Just because something may or may not be illegal certainly doesn't mean I'm opposed to it. =)

I got that image from a site. You ever seen those skaters wearing those "Skateboarding is not a crime" stickers? Well its the samething, cept the pic i have targets mainly the times when cops just pull over people that have a modified body or anything else thats different. It happens a lot in california, my daily driving i see some guy pulled over and his car just has a added body kit on it. i dont necessarly agree with "drag racing is not a crime" but in a way its kinda like standing out for a right to do something but i agree with "just because i fixed up my car doesn't mean i'm a criminal" so please stop flaming me.

I'm sorry. =(

I didn't meant it as a flame. Next time I copy and paste something, it'll be my driving record. Then everyone would realize I am by no means preaching.
