i've been wanting to try gymkhana out here in socal but i have no clue where gymkhana events are held at. i've searched but i only found one event that happened last month on june 16th at el toro. anybody?

There are a couple of Gymkahna like events that happen monthly in San Diego. One is at Qualcomm Stadium on Friday nights in conjunction with Racelegal check RaceLegal » (http://racelegal.com/) for schedule.

Also I heard about one that takes place at Barona speedway about once a month and that one is run by San Diego Club Racing Series (http://sdclubracing.com/)

Well that's the case now days. I remember back in like 05 when Aerodyne was hosting gymkhana events. Where was Ken Block back then?

The Qualcomm one got canceled and the SDCR is only once a season... whenever the have a season. It's pretty much once a year and it's only for fun. They focus on Auto-X and drag in their seasons. If more people joined SDCR and more were into Gymkhana, they would do more events I'm sure.

A coworker of mine would attend some random gymkhana event back in '05. That dude got us all into it, this was when i worked at Savage BMW in Ontario. It's cool to see how Ken Block blew up Gymkhana. What ever happened to D1?

KT "Drift King" thought it was getting out of hand. So he took the series out of the states and brought back to Japan to bring back the fun and leave all of the corporate stuff out of it.

This country has a way of abusing cool things.

i remember the first drift event I went to. this was back in 2003, we were able to stand in the middle of the track at irwindale before they got all strict about safety. i remember ping koguchi drifting around people and trapping them in. lol. that was the first time i saw the yuke's ae86 in person as well. fack, im getting old.

Sorry, just to clear something up.

KT didn't take it out of the states, he left the D1GP Corporation all together and made his own called Drift Muscle.

I'm sure the D1GP Corporation will take there series back over to the states, once they feel the need to.
