gas tank leaking please help !!!

Ok so my s13 has a leaking gas tank but only when I fill up the tank . Once the tank is half way I have no leaks. It leaks from the very top and it drips to the floor. My question is do u guys think its a gasket or something else like the gas tank being cracked ? Please help me out . Thanks guys

I would say one of the rubber lines from the tank is cracking or dry rotted, but it would leak whenever the car is on. It wouldn't hurt to check them just in case.

check the hose that runs from the filler neck back to the tank. mine was leaking every time i filled it all the way up.

Check the O-Ring that seals the sending unit.

I had the Exact same problem on my first S13 and it was because the O-Ring wasn't properly installed.

i had mine crack along the tank straps. it only leaked when i had more than 1/4 tank. kind of a pain finding it but an inch long weld that cost $20 and it was good to go. if all the hoses check out id pull it and fill it with water to find out if its cracked. does sound like filler neck hoses though. hope that helps.

just buy the new o-ring!!!! cause when you open the tank to take a look, that o-ring gets twice as big and twice as difficult to re-use. new one is not more than 20bucks.

if u let the oring sit for a while away from the tank it will go back to original size. found this out when i pulled tank for crack. bought new o ring for mine then went to install next day and found old oring back to right size so i reused it and returned new one.

also pick up the subframe already that thing is just sitting in my car and i need to start work on my interior and got nowhere to put away.

When you have a problem only when your tank is full, it is because of that big o ring that seals the fuel pump cover (extremely easy to replace). When you have problem with dripping/smelling fuel during all times, that is due to the rubber line that routes the fuel to the front.

Does anyone have the part number for the o-ring. i cant find it. or a link would also help so i could just order it online. yes my s13 leaks their after a walbro fuel pump install
