just curious, These two cars, are two of the fastest, (and most expensive) exotic cars that exist today.

McLaren... even though it's kinda gay and has one seat... it's more recongizable as an expensive car! That's probably a bad reason... but I'm droppin a milly on a car I better get some props!! The ol Nissan emblem just doesn't do that for you....
Now if it was Infiniti I'd think about it... hahahahaha...

no matter, just slap on a GTR emblem !! the mclaren is a 3 seater tho, I prefer the Mclaren myself, just has that ultimate supercar image..
by the way, does the mclaren have a sequential gearbox like the R390?

McLaren OWNZ JOO!!!! j/k but, I'm pretty sure the production F-1's were 3 seaters. and yea the kenwood CD is a bonus, but no AM/FM (nice sound system without a radio, haha).
Anyways, does anyone know about the gearbox?

Yes I am aware of this. =P I was referring to the illusion that Japanese car companies create to sell expensive cars to us white folk... get it?

I'm gonna have to go for the Nissan on this one.
The MCLaren is a 3-seater, I believe. I know that the driver goes in the middle. I'd pay mad money to drive that car for a day... wanna see what's it like driving from the middle of the vehicle.

the engine an all-aluminum 6.1-liter, 48-valve, V-12 with developed 627 hp
"The engine and its carbon-fiber airbox are worth a good look before disappearing into the engine bay. Dispite its huge capacite, the engine is only 23.6 in. long and weight 586 lb. with all ancillaries. Magnesium castings are used for the dry sump, the cam carriers and covers, the oil pump and the housing for the variable intakes camshaft timing control. Intake control is by 12 individual butterfly valves, and the exhaust piping is a real work of art. It delivers the exhaust gases into four highly heat-resistant inconel catalysts, each with its own lambda-sond control, befor they reach the huge and very effective muffler. The entire exaust system doubles as a crushable structure in case of rear impact."

qalso when you buy a mclaren F1 it comes with a HUGE tool kit. but i mean a FULL tool kit. you could probably open a shop and use all those tools. but stuff like changing oil on a mclaren is the worst thing ever! its not a do it your self job the whole bottom plate has to be disassembeled and shit like that. but hey you can afford a mclaren F1 im sure you can affor 1000$ oil changes <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

the McLaren engine bay lining is entirely made of gold! ha, thats probably where most of the money goes.
i dont know though, i like both the R390 and the F1. however, for some reason, i like small displacement engines. the nissan has a 3.5 V8 compared to the 6.1 V12 and it still has the potential to go as fast as the mclaren. just IMO.

i've heard it also comes with 2 56k modems for mclaren's personal navigation system (wish i still had the magazine). it says a regular tuneup costs $17,500. and it comes with a titanium tool kit. so what famous people own F1. does ralph lauren own two, and one of the guys in prodigy owns one.

But if i did have to choose between the two, i'd go for McLaren...just for the name, cuz face it... most people who do buy these cars don't even drive them for their built reasons. it jus sits and looks purty at fancy places. destroying one when doing something that you thought you can do easily with that type of car would obviously make ya look like a complete moron.

Is if just me or the F1's interior ugly as ####. It looks like a split bench seat with a baby's booster seat crammed in the middle. I like the nissan.
Ignorance again. The McLaren F1 is a true exotic super-car that is street-legal and has been made with the highest quality components around.
The entire exhaust system, from the manifold to the output muffler is fully titanium. The entire body is made of carbon fiber and people have survived crashes at over 140mph in the McLaren. In terms of layout, everything from the location of the engine, bumpers, and drivers seat were all laid out for performance.
Naaaaaah.. fuck that, who wants a McLaren F1! I'm going to ditch that car and spend a million PLUS on a cheapass street-car made of steel. Some of you insane.. you cant turn a hoe into a housewife.

the mclraren f1 is definately the better car. its got a bmw 6064cc all aluminum v12 with 627hp and a manual 6 (not sequentail). fastest official top speed is 231mph but on an unoffical recorded run it did 241mph the entire body and almost all of the car (including the chassis) is carbon fiber. 0-60 times are 3.2sec and 0-100 times are 6.3 sec. ameretich and mclaren (in conjunction with bmw for the engines) made the car. Gordon Murray was the disgner and the goal for this car was a street legal f1 car or as close to one as he could get hence the drivers seat in the middle. this is my altime fav. car so if you want the whole story i it id be glad to type it but i wont bore you unless you want me to. they also made a mclaren f1 lm which had only 1 seat. and had 668hp but only achived a top speed of 220mph because of shorter gearing. it was even faster of acclerarating and achived 60 in 3.0sec and the cenntenial mark in 5.9 sec.
no correct me if im wrong but didnt the r390 only have a top speed of 155 or did i confuse this with the molser m9000?

oh yea not only that but the mclaren also has a/c and a radio and the r390 only has a radio and lets not forget the fact that the r390 needs 2 turbos to get less hp that an na mclaren....no contest

I've seen a couple of F1's on the road over here and they look UNREAL, like the old Lambo Countach does. Did you know that Mclaren can do diagnostics from the factory on the car via modems fitted in the cars electronic management system. They can also stop/start the motor and switch on/off the lights, wipers etc from the factory using this link!!!!!! I think I'd have the R390 for the rarity value.
wow,
thats crazy technology.
I guess you pay for that

On a funny side; the fastest the a R390 roadcar has gone, 406kmh(243mph), and that was the test car, testing the engine, that can produce 1700hp+, but tested at 671hp LM spec which the 98 cars had on the track, no diss to the F1, but to end some of you comments which can go faster 'unoffically' as there was no 'offical' time keepers persent on the run.
Offical time is around the 200mph mark+\- a few mph, sorry they don't come with goveners as opitions.
0-62 mph is recorded at 3.4 sec, and 10.4 second 1/4.
not slow, #### I buy a 97 and 98, just because chuck some bigger turbo's on it anti-lag, so you could run 45psi, jesus road racing got a hard on.
Full respect to the Mclaren F1(GTR),
Sorry nothing to sub the NISSAN, I will not look back!!!!!!.

There's nothing wrong with that, EXCEPT.. you cant drive a car with that type of power as it was designed to be driven - ON THE STREETS.
I drive what many people call a shitty SOHC auto around the streets at full volume and everyone I know who rides in my car usually enjoys being rocketed around town. Everyone says it feels like a rollercoaster.
So, it doesnt have a turbo, its not a stick, and it doesnt have an LSD. But thats details for ME to worry about. The bottom line is, when you hit the twisties its not about power.. its about your line and fluidness.
I like the McLaren F1 because it is a full-scale model that has been honed to today's standard of precision and perfection. Its a big toy, nothing else. Unless someone is going to use it for track racing, its just a big full-scale model.. thats it. Same goes with most of the exotic cars.
I like NISSAN and Toyota because they make fairly cost-effective cars that can be driven the way they are designed to be driven. I wouldnt take a Supra and try to compete against a McLaren because its a car made of steel that has a bunch of useless accessories. Its a production car - the McLaren is a specialty car.
I wouldnt take a Civic and try to compare it to the Lotus Elise for the SAME exact reason. Even though the Lotus is exotic, its still pocket change considering its a fun toy that IS streetable.

I really meant on the tracks (this is a road legal race car). On the street you can't really do anything. It will be a complete waste if you don't take it to you're local race track and kick some ass! I did see you're videos old s13, and Yeah you're nutz! the F1 engine was adapted from the 850 csi engine. before the 850 was suppose 2 be cancled a the new engine...a 6.0 liter doch was suppose 2 be used...but was not excepted because the 850 was cancel because of slow sales.

####, if you put the mclaren engine in the 850 wouldnt it look it needs a pro stock hood or something??
the president of BMW had a Mcalaren F1 and he fucked it up, it was too expensive to fix so he just let it go...
i'd take the 850 and but a $950,000 house thanks

Hey is it just me or does the escude look like a squashed Suzuki sidekick?
I swear some of you guys need to stop playin video games and learn more about exotics before mouthing off.
When you're building an exotic super street-car like the McLaren F1, price means nothing to you. I know too many people who own really nice cars and still live at home suckling off of mommy and daddy. Those who own a McLaren F1 dont worry about the price, that means nothing to them. The reality is they own more than just a car, or several cars -- they probably own a good chunk of the world.
Anyone lucky enough to see a McLaren is NOT going to say "i'm not impressed." The reality is, when you see cars like that you'de better have a shopping kart to help you carry your jaw around.. because it'll definately be scraping the floor.
I saw a McLaren a month or two ago in Beverly Hills. Every car around it, wether it was a Corvette, Porsche Turbo, or a Ferrari seemed like a waste of space. Everyone's eyes was focused on ONE thing - that McLaren. Didnt you guys ever see that R33 GT-R or Veilside Supra Turbo race the McLaren F1? Both cars were turned into poo-poo.

yea and i bet that mclaren is stock too....wonder what would happen if you put a turbo on a mclaren. i hate saying this but old s13 is right the people who own mclarens dont give a crap about money its toilet paper to them. i know of an f50 twin turbo but that pussy is only puttin out 3 psi cause he doesnt wanna crack the engine open to put lower compression pistons. its the creator of doom by the way (the guy who has the f50 tt)
