My 89 240sx has the sohc motor still that I have been trying to get fixed up a little so it would be reliable enough to drive around while I build up the dohc. I did a tune up on it (ngk plugs and wires, new cap and rotor, and a new ignition coil) and my car still has the same issue, it has a serious misfire that whenever I get on the gas from a stop the car dies down and almost stalls. When ever that happpens I have learned to wiggle the ignition coil wire around right where it connects to the coil pack. I don't know what is causing this, does anyone else know what could be done to fix this issue so I can actually drive around town?
Thanks
~Corey

i checked out the thread and still not sure it that will help. i am almost certain it has something to do with the ignition coil considering the car runs just fine whenever i adjust the coil wire.

I'd just break down and do a full tune-up. When you get the dual cam going you can sell all the shit to someone else with one of these posts.

I have the same problem in with my dual cam.. It was running fine then I pulled the plug wires and dizzy, put it back in and now my car acts like it has a rev limit in random places and has hardly any power. I already threw a different dizzy at it so I'm gonna try messing with the plug wires now.

You can have two of the wires swapped and the car will run great at idle but it will act funny under power. id check that out first.

maybe shoot it with a timing light? that solved my misfiring problem...but i have an RB....but just try that.

well i figured it out. cylinder 1 fuel injector isnt working must of the time. all injector plugs r corroded. and their is a bad wire somewhere in my engine harness.
so not sure if i want to fix up this motor anymore. might be time to just focus on the dohc swap
