View Full Version : Something Different

I picked up a '93 240sx shell for $200 a few months ago. Since then I've been working the weekends on getting the car stripped down and through the process I've been dreaming about how I am going to build it back up. My initial thoughts are to build it as a daily driver that will see weekend work as a show car and some spirited driving. In the quest to do something different I came up with the idea of using a centrifugal supercharger in combination with a KA or RB25. I know most of you will initial think why not go with a turbo. Well, as stated before I want to do something different. My plan is to set up a centrifugal supercharger that will at max engine rpm boost at about ~ 20 psi. Then using a waste gate as detailed at Adding A Wastgate Produces Big Power On The Dyno - Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords Magazine (http://www.musclemustangfastfords.com/tech/mmfp_0708_vortech_centrifugal_supercharger_wastega te_install/dyno_results.html) set the peak boost limit to ~ 10 psi which will hopefully be made around 3-4k rpm. Any thoughts or suggestions on this idea?

Different doesn't = better, but the whole sc thing has been covered on 240's at least as far as the ka's, though I haven't seen a sc'd rb25 before..

I've only seen roots or twinscrew type superchargers on KA's

All that money and time, you could have a LSx.

You have money to waste and you want something different?
Buy the 2.6 stroker kit from BC and add a new EFR turbo to it...You will be the first and only to have such a combination. And it will far outperform your SC pipe dream.
Just friendly advice :wan:

Get breast implants.
That way EVERYONE will notice you're different, not just car dudes.

Time isn't an issue, and since I am in no rush then money isn't either. Yes I could go with some uber turbo set up but that would still just be a turbo set up. Going with a s/c yeah sure I won't make as much as possible, but with my goal whatever power 10 to 20 lbs of boost is will be more than enough. I don't see myself getting into drifting and for a very unique daily driver it will do well. Further plans include covering the interior panels with fiberglass and extending the center console so it acts as cup holders and arm rest for the rear passengers. I plan for the paint to be a dark dark juniper green metalic

Rear passengers?
Evidently your plans call for a chassis stretch as well. Either that, or you and your friends are all 3' 6" and shorter.
