Looking into buying an upgrade for the oem open diff. Suspension and wheel setup is complete for the most part. Now its time for brakes and a new rear diff. So my question is what is better for street/track us, a 1.5 or 2 way? I dont plan on drifting too much. The car is being for setup for auto x and time trials at the track. I know a 2 way is better for what kind of racing I plan on doing, but how are they on daily driving? Thanks, Josh.
If you dont plan to drift tha much I would say 1.5 or s15 helical diff. I know some auto x folks who are happy with helical.

I dont recommand kaaz.
I would go with Nismo 2 way all day. Quite for daily and friendly.
I got a Nismo 2 way GT for sale if you interesting in.

car isnt daily driven. just sees more street then track time. ive had bad luck with used diffs. so im doing it the right way this time and buying brand new. i got screwed over with a vlsd and an r180 nismo 2 way. i dont really care how loud it is. my car is already uncomfortable to drive with the roads around where i am. just looking for something reliable that has a good rep. ive heard good things about kaaz and i can get a really good deal on one.

Yeah KAAZ are usually the loudest of the bunch both 1.5 and 2 way. Then cusco, but nismo is super quiet compared to the other two. For road racing/auto-x i would go with 1.5 way, thats what im looking for, for auto-x. 2 ways get you too much snap if not properly set up and understeer too much in other cases. 1.5 ways are smoother and better for DD but its not impossible to daily a 2way. Theres ppl dd a welded so 2 shouldnt be harder.

yeah i know a few people who dd welded. chriping tires and having problems parking. i find it pretty ammusing. anyone have any experience how reliable kaaz's are? looks like ill get better use out of a 1.5 way then. i must have read something wrong. and apparently kaaz has come out with their super Q lineup of diffs. they claim they are quieter.

i have a KAAZ 2way that i daily. it's a bit loud/clunky, but hey it's a good 2way diff. it locks when it's supposed to, and unlocks when it's supposed to. can't really complain about that.

a daily a kaaz 2 way as well. its really not bad at all. just add friction modifier.
however, if its for autox, get a 1.5 way

If you have a hatch, a KAAZ 2 way sounds like you have a bowling ball rolling in the trunk and would clunk real load when it locks.
