I have a 95 240sx coupe, what would you guys prefer for a daily driver/drifting coilovers? I have somewhat of a budget so try not to place anything too expensive ($800-$1,300)

Listen to Dousan, for he is wise in the drift. . . freaking drifting. . .

Once you learn the car, you'll have a better idea of what you want. It also helps if we have a better idea of what you're looking for. I have a fairly innexpensive spring/strut setup on my car which is fabulous for my daily driving and occaisional sprints up the mountain :P

At this point, you may want to put a bit more into research. Your price range seems to help narrow you down to spring/strut combos, ground controls, Tein HE/HAs, . . . what else is in that price range

you should get the SR20 motor. it will make you drift hardcore.
also, get the loudest BOV you can find, so you make sure people can hear you coming on the street and get out of your way.

I did take in consideration of an sr20 swap, but i decided im going to go KA-T and bore it out to a 2.5 liter, also upgrading the cams, heads, and valves/springs so i will be able to rev up to 8000rpm:D the sr20 is a good engine no doubt but it has become very common. besides take the specs from a sr20 swap and a KA-T;) lol, on a side note, i was cruising a chatroom on msn the other day, this guy was saying he had a 98 240sx with an sr20 swap, and had 800rwhp!!:bs: was the first thing that came to mind. lol, damn posers...

thats going to cost you alot of money to make the KA rev to 8k without problems.

Don't worry about being thrifty on coilovers when you can describe these plans for your engine that will cost at least 5000+ dollars. For the coilovers, phase2 is still having a clearance on apexi n1 pro for like $1550 for the s14, but that might be a little out of your range, and as for ride on them, I don't know, just tossing a suggestion somwhat in the pricerange in there. And about the 800hp sr, that guy was probably bsing you, but dont think that 800hp from an sr is impossible.

edit:hmm, 800RWhp, i dunno, thats quite a bit higher than the crank hp i was thinkin of originally, eh, its probably bs.

have you actually found the limits of your car yet? you probably havent as most of us havent either. why spend money to make your car outhandle a stock car, if you havent learned how to toss around a stock one? its like, i think dousan said, dont use a crutch. sure you can make the car handle/drift better, but you should put your emphasis on learning to drive/drift better. just my opinion

I've told you before, and I'll tell you again. Motor work can wait for a long while. Where is your head?? Don't worry about KAT, stay stock w/ your engine. As for suspension and motor. You know I'm going to Japan here soon and I'll be your hookup for parts and an engine. Suspension wise, leave it stock till you get proficient w/ the stock setup. Replace things as the break or get worn. Start your money spending on bushings and an LSD. I got an LSD here waiting for you to buy cheap, right there in your face. You'll be better off buying my lsd than my exhaust. LSD provides much more performance than a catback in any perspective; drag, drift whatever. Listen to me, I've already made the mistakes that your trying to do. You better get your head back down to earth before I smack you w/ a turkey leg on Thanksgiving.

edit: BTW, why don't you just say you have a 95 base model in your sig to save yourself the typing every time you post. Also, learn to TFYS.

I like how you considered the options, and now want to make the KA rev to 8000RPM.

Please, before you consider any further, get your facts straight. To get the KA to rev AND not fall apart at 8k RPM requires a LOT more than just cams, headwork, and valve/spring work. Look at the NASPORT KA24E engines. They rev to 8k rpms and require a rebuild after several races...

And why in the world would you want to bore it out to 2.5? WHY? Please give conclusive, solid reasoning for doing that. All the KA turbos I've seen all do fine with 2.4l.

ka 2.4L is already bored
IIRC, it was bored to2.4L from 2.2L
dont you think 8000rpm is kinda pushing it?
think about what you have to do to the motor.. modify the head... destroke the KA.. hmm
im not trying to be an a*s.. im going KA-T myself too
so please take no offence... just consider my post a critique so you can rethink your whole plan

i guess i kinda over exaggerated on the 8000rpm thing, but i should be able to get high revs off my plan. you think?

No you wont go past 7K with your "plan".

With your "plan" you'd be lucky you even have a decent engine after you are done.

Do not do engine mods first... They make learning to drive infinetly tougher...

Whilest attempting to explore the limit of my car I realized its much harder when you have to deal with things like turbo lag, boost in general, and a crappy magic box tranny...

Learn stock! It makes things easier to upgrade as well, because you'll know where your car and driving is weakest.

not to sound like a dick but if you want a 2.5L 8k reving kat that will last and handle 8k with out problems but you dont have money for a 700 dollar lsd or 1300 is your max for suspension. your car will be parked for years or you will be saving for years to do that engine upgrade.
