View Full Version : Wtf just happened to my motor!

ok so heres the rundown I want to get some opinions because it looks like my motor just shit the bed...


heres the situation. yesterday on the ride home from work about a mile from home car suddenly started running like crap smoking and the cabin filled up with fuel vapor. I figured one of the rubber hoses that goes from the pump to the hardline cracked. get home and check and sure enough one is leaking fuel..

So this morning trying to get it fixed for work I went out, pulled the fuel pump relay and cranked it and let it die so there was no pressure in the lines. realized that without my tools i couldn't do anything so i went to work then brought my tools home.

So i just fixed it and went to start it..... hit the key and ... THUD!
my heart hit the floor. Checked the battery and it was fine, tried again... THUD! rut roe! put a socket on the crank and went to crank by hard it wouldn't budge at first but then it "broke :picardfp:" free. Go to crank again CRANK CRANK THUD!


so how F'ed am I? did I drop a valve??? there was no rod knock, oil level is fine, didn't sound like anything mechanical was broken yesterday.

pull the plugs out and see if it turns over then

i think its a valve it sounds like a metal to metal thud

it seems to happen in the same spot in the cycle every time so maybe my timing chain tensioner died and the chain jumped

check the oil


no metal in the oil..

thats a good sign

gonna pull the valve cover tomorrow and check the head and the timing

take the valve cover off, is everything where it should be?

replace your injector seals, they are probably leaking a bunch
of fuel and locking up ur motor.

injector seals are brand new

take the valve cover off, is everything where it should be?

loosen the rail so its in the air and see if it leaks

i hydro locked an SR with a leaking fuel injector one time. pull the plugs and if no gas is in there then your fine
