I'm looking into buying a set of cams from a '92 240sx and putting them into my s14 KA. I'm not sure of the quality of the cams, but can find out...they are only $50 and sound like a good buy to me. My question though, is whether or not these '92 cams are the same as the "hot" cams (240/248) from the '91 240's. I need an answer pretty soon as i need to let the seller know whether i'm buying or not tomorrow.

Thanks!

-Mike

First off you could search and find the asnwer in 2 seconds. But I'm nice so: ONLY the 91 cams were considered the "hot" cams.

ps- HOT cams.. yes 91. but ideal setup is 91 intake and 93 altima exhaust. or somthing like that. check the search button. 91 cams are just as fun tho.

I don't know. I've read on here and on FA that the hot cams lasted from 91 to late 93 when they switched over to the S14 style cams in the middle of the year. In addition to this, the intake manifold on the 93's without the hot cams doesn't have the SCV and secondary butterflies on the intake manifold. I can vouch for that last part because I just pulled my 93 out and it must be a late 93 model because I don't have the secondary butterflies. I should have pulled the valve cover and compared the cams to my S14 KA that I put in but I already put the gasket shit on the side round rubber things and I don't feel like doing it again. I think this shit will always be a mystery because so many people disagree on this subject.

how are they a myth
they do exist and i'm pretty sure that those cams were in 92 's and some 93's.

people say the 1991 AND ONLY THE 1991 cams were the "hot" ones. now i thought someone had proved that all s13 dohc cams (91-94) were the same. when s14s came out, the cams were different.

does anyone know if the 91s were "special"???

okay even if im selling these cams, i want to sell myself out for the truth... just to save you all time and money. you want power? invest in a turbo kit for the 240sx or an sr20det. get the cams if you really know what you are doing. the cam swap is not for the meek. if you have no idea what you are getting into, dont do it. the cam swap isnt hard but not so easy. if you want it it's becasue you know what to do, and you have your mind set on it. do your research... understand it. here in zilvia, how many times have we covered this subject? would it be easier if we told you it didnt work? lets pretend that it didnt work... just a big waste of time. ok. and for those who know.. more power to you.

ps- i love you all. the search button really works. well at least close to it.
