Friday night, heading home, N driver in his Mom's Dodge ran a stop sign and hit my 7 :( I just finished building it a week ago.... finished lots of bodywork, fresh paint two weeks ago, new wheels/tires/coilovers, tons of goodies.... I'll let the pics do the talking:

Only 10 months? Not too bad. I'm going on 4 years with my build. Always afraid something like this is going to happen. GL with everything.

Thanks guys. I know its "fixable" but the insurance company might just write it off. Have to wait and see :(

I'm scared of that happening to me once my CA is settled in my car and i get it painted. Just progressive thinking is all you need bro! Maybe not your style, but this may be your chance to go widebody lol. Looks more like you just wanna stay OEM look like mine though. Good luck on your car's recovery! (and I hope you're fine too lol)

Does insurance work differently in Canada or something?
-Let them write it off as a total loss.
-Take the check that they cut you.
-Buy the car back at a fraction of the cost and get a salvage title.
-Repair and profit?

That's exactly how it works. But there are two types of write-offs here... repairable (eligible for insurance after repair and inspection) and non-repairable (not eligible for re-insure). I'm hoping they say it's still repairable

It actually depends on how much the repair will cost and how much the car is actually worth.
So if the repair cost will cost more than what the car is value. They will just write it off. And the OP can possibly get it repaired somewhere cheap but quality. Nothing like "FIX-IT auto collision" they charge an arm and a leg.

Let them know how much you have into the car it helps with the quote they give you for how much its worth. Unless you want it totalled lol.

you must have full coverage.. I had liabilty on my 240 and someone did a hit and run (even tho I chased their ass and wrote down the plate, tho they said it was invalid)... i had to come out of my pocket to repair it.

Time for over fenders. That damage is very very similar to whats on my fc, i took a hit straight to the wheel though and the damage is lower on the qtr.
PS base models w/o sunroofs are the best fc's.

Sorry, here in BC we have a Graduated Licensing System that means you have your "L" (Learners) for a year, and your "N" (New Driver) for two years with zero drinking/one passenger restrictions, then you can take a road test and get your full license. It's pretty stupid, but yeah, this guy had just gotten his "N"... probably texting or something :mrmeph:

let us know what happens with the insurance company. If you buy the car back get some one to pull the wrinkle out of the hatch area or get a donor panel and weld a new section on. Overs should take care of the rest.

Well, here's the update: The car is a total loss, and can't be bought back as it is now a dismantle-only vehicle and legally can never see the road again. They're gonna pay me out 4200 for it. Sucks, but such is life.

You can't even buy it back for use as a track only car?

08-05-2011, 10:44 PM
Wow man so essentially you sold your fc for 4200. I wouldn't accept that. You should tell them you're not accepting that and start digging up receipts. If you can atleast part it out you'll get your money back. See if you can get it looked at by a body shop or something. Don't just accept the insurance company's lowball and bs to get you to sign away your car.
