View Full Version : A/C.. Clutch fan sufficient over electric?

So i've recently decided I was going to go with a clutch fan setup instead of the elec fans on my SR20 setup (going to ditch my FALs) since the clutch setup does a very effective job with engine cooling. (Now for A/C purposes...) My question is would it be necessary to keep the elec fans for A/C? Would cooling with the clutch fan alone be sufficient to cool the condenser?

From my experience you would need a the fan for ac or your car will overheat. I would leave one of the electric fans for the ac or what I did is just use the factory fan where it's wire up like stock.

lol what!! haha.. the ac fan is for the..well..um.. air conditioning:keke:

the car will not over heat..if you are going to run a stock cooling set up..do as that.. ALL STOCK.. remember if nissan thought the clutch fan would be "enough" they wouldn't have installed a secondary fan for the AC condenser. :)

Lol I guess it's just my car then that over heats then because when my ac fan wires got cut up ac stop blowing cold and car start to run hot but once Id fixed the wires and everything ran normal again.

Don't these cars come with an AC fan AND a clutch fan from the factory? Yeah i think so..

He's asking if there's a fan that blows on the condensor.

I've noticed that my water temps climb quite a bit when the car is stopped at idle.

lol.. thats what i just said bro. I said "IF" the stock clutch fan was good enough for the radiator AND the condenser, nissan wouldn't have installed a AC fan BUT they did.

why are you ditching fals? You're doing something wrong

Koguchi said never ditch the stock clutch fan.

You can always try, and report back... it's not like you can't install another fan after you find out it doesn't work..

That's not answering what he's asking lol

to answer your question, yes you do need an electric fan that would come on when the a/c clutch engages(stock set up from the factory). the clutch fan maybe enough to cool the radiator, but it won`t be enough to cool both the radiator and the condenser. especially if you sitting in traffic.

I 2nd that... I deleted my clutch can to "gain hp" now I have to run 3 electric fans. Two on the condenser and one on the Radiator.. (with a radiator upgrade 2row)

i dont think the clutch fan would pull air through the condenser very well or efficiently

It would if you have a shroud.

But the A/C fan helps because if you're stuck in traffic per say. I believe it kicks in as well. Pulling more air while your engine is on idle.
