I am not sure if this is the place to put this thread, and I really dont know if any of you are going to be able to help me out, but i need to find out.

I am going to give you all the short version of the story for the sake of time and space.

For about 5 months now a "performance" shop in Colorado has been doing an sr20 swap in my 90 240sx. They have been screwing me over, and making up BS reasons why they have not yet been able to get the work done. They have also been leaving my car outside, WITH NO HOOD ON EVENTHOUGH THE SR AND FMIC ARE ALREADY IN IT. Well, just last night someone stole somewhere around $1000 - $1500 worth of parts from the engine bay. I am thinking this might be a good time to take them to court for all the shit they have been putting me through, but their excuse is going to be that "Since it is a JDM engine, we cant get parts from anywhere but Japan. Thats why it is taking 5+ months to get it done" (they have actually already used that line once or twice). What i need is someone in the Denver, CO area that has done a sr20 swap before that might be willing to be an "expert witness" to prove that there is no reason that the swap should have taken this long. If it hadnt taken so long than it wouldnt have been broken into, and i wouldnt have had to go 5+ months without being able to drive my car.

Any takers??? Any advice???

I'm not in Co..but this is the most extreme case of a bad shop I've ever heard.

Unless you are talking about things like stroker kits or not-so-popular engine computers (Reyec, etc), everything you need for a swap is available in America. In stock, too. True, the wiring harnesses need to be sourced if you don't have one, but that's not a five month wait.

Leaving a car outside with an exposed engine bay day and night is simply outright irresponsible. Not just theft, but who knows what damage the weather might do to the wires sitting out in the open.

I throw all my support behind you..get these guys.

Shit like this pisses me off. 5 fucking months? Give me a break! Anyhting over a few weeks AT MOST and I'd be uber pissed. Take the sons of bitches to court and get all you can. Shops like that need to burn in hell.

i've seen SR swaps done in as little as 8 hours, with hand tools! So yeah, they are def. screwing you over.

you definitely have a case. get all your stuff together and get a lawyer.

by the way you should have been pretty suspicious if you knew they were leaving your car outside with no hood. i would have freaked. take pictures and then sue their ass.

either way you'll get the sr20.
:madfawk: shops like that suck.

Which shop? I used to live in Colorado and have some friends there that are still in "the scene." Just want to pass on the word. It might end up helping you out...

Phat N low in Greeley is the shop. I talked to them about it an hour or 2 ago, and they are telling me that this wont slow down the process anymore (not that it would have been possible to slow the process down anymore) because the stuff that was stolen is all easy to find. I am going to give them until Monday because they have been throwing in free parts here and there because I have been so patient with them.

if they don't get you all the parts back that were stolen then file suit. You will win. Its negligence, they failed to take appropriate steps to protect your car. In fact unless they have some amazing evidence (signed liability waiver?) then the judge will likely make a direct verdict...

my friend in martinsburg VA dropped his car off in august or so and they still haven't finished it. and he had already swapped the engine, all that guy was supposed to be doing was fixing the wiring...

I hate hearing horror stories about shops and stuff, that just totally throws all my faith in them out. I guess that is why I am so thankful my friends and I do our own work, and that Zilvia.net is on the net, becuase then I can come on here and ask questions and do it myself, rather than having some guy at a shop mess with my stuff for 10938093 months. I feel for you guys and I think if they don't get their act together you should take them to court becuase you don't deserve to be without a car that long and their excuses do sound like B.S. Good luck!

yeah me too, I always take forever to work on my car but I'm allowed to take breaks whenever I want. Its best for both my car and I, I have the tendecy to beat things with hammers when they don't come off right away.
