Hey guys,
i purchased the Tomei M7960 on frsports and got it tuned.

car made 358.9 hp @ 18psi. on a dynodynamic. with C.F. 1.0

Good power, but when it actually comes to driving, i feel the car get no power on 1st gear, and boost kicks in late .

here is the mods on the motor:

S14 SR20DET (75000km)
Greddy Vspec FMIC
Turbo back exhaust,
Nistune
Apexi AVC-R
warlboro 255lph
Tomei RAS
Tomei 740cc injectors
Tomei m7960 Turbo.
Stock Head & bottom.

daily driving @ 1bar


this is the first time i have a "big" turbo , i feel the boost kicks in very slow (compare to a stock turbo),
my question is , what can i do to get more response?
is it the Tune problem? or the Tomei turbo is supposed to be like that? (its a 20G turbo, identical to a Td06 20g mitsu turbo i think)

im going to do Splitfire coilpack, tomei exhaust mani, camshafts soon, just wanna see what kind of options i have to make this turbo spool quicker.

Well, that 20G for ya!! I have same turbo year ago with tomei 260 IN/EX cams. it only help a little nothing much you can do really. unless you swap out to ball bearing turbo. by the way,that what I end up did.

^ i even think that turbo has problems.... all my buddies is telling me do 50shot of nos
but i see what you mean bro, shoulda just go with GT3076 or the new shit from Borgwarner instead...

Try to play with AVC-R? maybe more of Gain????? what RPM do you hit max boost?

Stock Head
Timing off?
Possibly bad tune?


At 20 psi, on a 20g, that thing should (even with stock cams) be making some bigger power.

I only have 250whp with S15 turbo with my S14 SR,,, tuned by Frank at Garage BOSO
but very smooth powerband and as I drive my car everyday, It sure is faster than other 300+hp cars

I can only say it is all about the tune..

Without a doubt, a shitty tune can wreck serious havoc on a car.

im in Canada....what can i expect..

does anyone know any good places/tuners on the east cost?.(NYC ect..)

i clearly understand how important a good tune stands for.

boost starts building up at 3000rpm,but most of the boost jumps out around 5000-5500rpm
