Alright so I have a 1990 240 hatchback, I just bought it and one of the previous owners decided to weld on 2 different spoilers then hack them off. My trunk now has rust and left over welds. I am going to buy a new hatch and I was wondering how hard it is to take the glass out of the old hatch and put it into the new (the glass is currently tinted that's why I don't want to waste it).

Tint doesn't cost a fortune, get new tint on the new hatch.

He's right its totally not worth taking both glass pieces off and replacing correctly I say leave it the way it is and go get the one panel retinted

Alright thanks for the input, tomorrow I'm going to sand down my trunk and take a wire brush to the rust, see what happens.

my friend did this just yesterday to re-seal the glass. not a super hard task but just make sure you have evrything in place. they had glass grabbers and the correct sealant to put back over it. i didnt see them remove it and prep it but i did see them put the new seal on and press the glass back in. not impossible

fucking toolbags
do you know how much work it is to remove those flimsy moldings & glass vs removing a piece of TINT?
seriously........ im a jew and i can tell you that you're being cheaper than a fucking jew, chinese, AND an indian if you're attempting to swap glass in attempt to "save the tint."
what the hell is wrong with you guys nowadays.

Seriously. It'll cost what, $20, for one window?
I paid for tint to be taken off of my car. Then replaced my shitty hatch with a clean one and of course it had tint on. I definitely did not swap glass.
I didn't even try, there's no way that swapping glass would be easier or cheaper.
