It bothers me that you haven't searched. Found these three threads within 20 seconds of searching "350 Small Block" on here.

Im very well informed. what year motor, FI or Carb, etc. list out the questions, ive been where you are.
something to consider, LM7, its the route im now going. just saying. cheap as hell if you want an american V8 on a budget.
lets hear it.

I'll probably use a old school 350 that's what I was brought up on so I'll stick wit that

Im told the nova plans that are front sump fit pretty well, thats if you go with an older motor though, the new LS motors usually require a gto pan and pickup and slight notching of the crossmember.
you can get the nova pan on summit for who knows how much. the gto pan for less than a hundred on LS1Tech
just an idea. daft has decent prices, but either way, even on a budget, it can get pricey, unless you can weld up motor mounts trans mounts and get a driveshaft for cheaps, the next thing would be motor and transmission/ecu. Dont forget the wiring aspect, that can get pricey as well. LM7 is the route im taking and its the cheapest in alot of ways, but still pounding out serious HP and TQ.
be careful if you do notch the subframe as I think FD (if this will be a pro am car or whatever) doesnt allow it

I liked the old school idea, I just dont have alot of them in my area. The lack of ECU and carb on a car looks sexy 350 Chevy 240sx Products McKinney Motorsports (http://mckinneymotorsports.com/prod_350+Chevy+240sx)
there shit can get expensive, but they know what they are doing. even if you just go with their wiring, trust me, they helped me alot from the get go, good people.

Junkyard 5.3, 300 bucks
that's where I'd start. There is zero reason to start with a SBC anymore at this day in age, with LSx being so damn cheap and easy to find in the junkyard. Hell a basic cam only 4.8/5.3 will net equal if not more power than a mild head/cam package on a SBC. Plus it's set with F/I already, and a tunable PCM. Again, you can really make some nice reliable EFI power if you research it.

I mean you can even get 6.0's for 400-500 bucks complete anymore...stupidly cheap.
For reference, a heads cam edlebrock kit on a 350 makes 300 whp, 380 ft lbs time and time again. Gets 10 mpg with that stupid carb. Starts heard in the heat.
5.3 with a Cam/intake/header package make 300 whp, 380 ft lbs. Gets 20+cruising, dead stock reliable, and nice. Hell that whole setup would equal cost of a Edlebrock top end kit
Hehe LM7! Votrec!
