I'm going to be getting an sr20det swap for my 89 240 soon i have about $1200 to spend on mods. I was thinking 3 inch piping from the turbo back (with a test pipe of course) which if i use ebay would run around $600 any other ideas of how to boost my hp?

hmmm... the best bet for 1200 is a clutch kit and FMIC. Or if you want to do your clutch later (not suggested), go with an fmic, downpipe, intake adapter & intake, cheap mbc, and recirc valve. With those mods you could pull about 240 at the wheels at 15psi, putting you in the mid to low 13s if you have an open diff. Your stock clutch wont last long though.

#1 fuel pump get a walboro or 300Zx TT fuel pump 120-230$ might as well get a new fuel filter too - 12$ 300zx type.

#2 get some new oem 300zx tt platinum plugs - 35-45$

#3 change any accesory drive belts - autozone/ napa/ kragen visit (40$-60$) or spring for kevlar power enterprises belts ( www.phase2motortrend.com - 115$)

#4 new nismo motor/ transmission mounts since its the easiest time to get them and yours are probably worn out - 200-230$

#5 change gaskets on exhaust manifold and the infamous turbo manifold flange gasket (always broken) - 80$

for safety and reliability.

for power:
1. get some sort of 70-80mm downpipe - greddy, apex, blitz, hks, 5chicken, etc make these.

2. get a 80mm or dual 60mm or bigger exhaust. - make your own custom one from 3' piping at a muffler shop or to safe money buy a clean used exhaust from the classifieds.

3. buy some ones used intake or pick up a blitz LM or Apex-i one for round 100-130$.

Search will reveal all you need. and fwiw - wylin's is the best advice here. PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE.. get it running good, then mod it. Remember, you engine has probably been sitting in a junkyard for a while now..
