Hey everybody. I recently bought a 240 and I love it. I love everything about it besides the tint on the tail lights. The previous owner put it on there :/
The tint on the tail lights is not like window tint. More like a paint. Does anyone know how I can remove it?

wet sand the f*ck out of them !
start by using a 1000-1500 grit then finish with a 2000 grit. After that you can buff them with a compound

Probably be just as cheap to just buy some used ones after spending money on sandpaper and buffing/polishing compound.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll try the sand paper method. I'm hearing bad things about paint thinner. That it will mess up the plastic and what not.
Negative comments werent necessary. I came here to find help, not to get bashed on.

don't bother sanding or anything that requires effort. Just get some aircraft stripper and it bubbles right off in 4-5 seconds, wipe off with a towel and you're done

smart, because anyone whosever read a manual before should recall seeing things like "do not clean plastics with solvents such as benzene, thinner, etc" listening to the above idiots would cause serious issues with the plastics crazing and dulling. wetsand and polish will be the painful but proper way to remove the finish
btw, to the idiot that said they dont effect performance........... you have less light output and cops give citations for shit like that.

I have used goo gone in the past it worked great and its not as strong as paint thinner to melt the plastic just pour some on a rag and wipe away. If u do in fact fuck up a light some how by miracle just get a new set for dirt cheap and if u own a car please have more then 15 bucks because u never know what can happen to it especially a 20 yr old car.

If you have some extra brake fluid laying around you could use that. Just rub it on and let it eat the tint off. Just make sure you dont get any on your paint
